Today we are going to present some really small and cute laptops which have become a MUST for people who travel a lot and are always on the go and cannot carry huge laptop which are becoming really heavy with their improved batteries.

When we are going to talk about these top rated mini laptops, we will actually be talking about netbooks as they are specifically designed for browsing the internet and cannot handle much more advanced applications due to their components. We shall begin our top rated mini laptops countdown with the Asus Eee PC 701 which was certainly one of the best sold netbooks until the competition started to produce some really good counter-material.  The 7 inch display is annoying because you always have to keep scrolling when reading big documents or WebPages. You have speakers on both sides of the display and you also have a webcam to keep in touch with your friends. Even if this netbook used to be one of the best around, now there are far better models with similar pricing. However, if you are not picky and just a small machine that helps you gets thing done, this model is worth taking into consideration.

Another very good notebook is the Toshiba NB100. The 8.9 inch display is far better than the 7 inch Asus Eee PC 701 and you get all those cool features like integrated microphone and Bluetooth and a webcam. You can choose between Linux and Windows XP operating systems but we would go with Windows because you get an extra 40 GB of HDD and you never know when you may need that total of 120 GB. It weighs less that kilo and the battery lasts about 3 hours and 30 minutes. There is nothing extremely special about this netbook except that you get acceptable specs for a fairy good price. If you own a Toshiba laptop and you like it, then you will probably go with the Toshiba NB100 as well, just to play is safe.



The Acer Aspire One has always been one of our favorite netbooks, maybe because it looks so shiny due to the glossy lid or maybe because it's available in a pretty pink color. It's a shame that the keyboard is so small and this is a real problem for people that have big hands. We are also frustrated with the left and right mouse buttons which are places on both sided of the touchpad and since we are used with our plain old laptops, it's getting really heard to accommodate with this new layout. Except for these tiny inconveniences, the Acer Aspire One is good for those who travel often and want to enjoy a good movie during that boring flight (you can even let the kids watch their favorite cartoons on the back seat o the car while driving to see granny).

Just forget about the Asus Eee PC 701, we now bring you a much better option. The Asus Eee PC 901 is a better and more improved version of the Eee PC 900. You will be pleased with the 8.9 inch display and it won't be uncomfortable to read documents or surf the internet. We were happy to see that the battery lasts around 5 hours which is very good for a mini laptop which is supposed to be portable. Due to the components inside, the Eee PC 901 is a bit more speedy and powerful compared to other netbooks and this is ok if you are even in need of running multiple applications. You get the same choice of XP or Linux operating systems and we recommend Windows even if it is a bit more expensive. The 1.3 mega pixel webcam works just fine with Skype. It's a netbook that offers a good balance between price and features and we are sure than once you buy it, you will be pals forever.



Out next netbook choice is going to make girls eyes pop out (some of them may even start drooling) as this is more than a mini laptop: it's a fashion accessory which is a bit more expensive than your usual net-gadget. The HP Mini 10.1 Vivienne Tam Edition is a work of art which is bound to attract looks all around you. The Intel Atom N270 processor at 1.6 GHz amazed us as most of us did not expect to find power under that sweet floral case. With a 4.7 rating out of a maximum 5, users are extremely happy with this laptop and girls who have seen it but don't own it are sad as most women would love to get their hands on the beautiful netbook. You get an integrated webcam and Bluetooth and USB ports and a 2-in-1 card reader and all that in a beautiful ruby red case with floral design (butterfly case coming up soon). What is not to love about it? Maybe the spicy price of over $600...?



Last, but not least, we have reached our number one choice in netbook material. It has the brains and the brawn to make you look good and important wherever you use it. That's right; we are talking about the Sony VAIO P series. If you were large jeans with big pockets, you will probably be able to squeeze this 638g netbook inside. You have a GPS (which doesn't need an internet connection), plus a Bluetooth and a wireless LAN 3G broadband. The 2 GB of RAM will require Windows Vista but who cares? I mean netbook manufacturers have rarely dared to put 1 GB in the mini laptops.  This is a netbook that definitely has the speed, power and looks which none of us expected to find in such a small and compact gadget. The standard battery will give you about 4 hours of battery life but if you choose to go with the larger battery than you will get a full 8 hours of battery life which is more than enough time to help you get your work done. Since it was all too good to be true, the $1000 price has brought our feet to the ground and we are aware that not everyone can afford it. This is a price you could pay for a good full-sized laptop. But for business men who travel a lot (or for people who have some extra money on their hands) this is the top of the line material.
