Security update rated critical for Microsoft Office Word

Microsoft has released updates that target the segment of users of Office for Mac in order to address a security issue that could be exploited in case of using malevolently created Word file. The Microsoft updates for Office 2008 for Mac 12.1.9. provide security through that that contain the possibilities of fixing the vulnerabilities that might be in the system and therefore at handy to any attacker.

In the security bulletin of Microsoft MS09-027 are issued the vulnerable points in MS Office Word, points that could allow remote code execution.

ms-officeTwo reported vulnerabilities are the breaches through which an attacker could take control over an affected system (he could then install programs, change or delete data, create new accounts with full ‘entitled’ rights).

This security update rated critical for Microsoft Office Word not only the 2000 edition but also for the other supported editions – 2002, 2003, 2007, 2004 for Mac, and MS Office 2008 for Mac. The update consists in modifying the way in which Word opens and analyses the files.

The Office 2004 for Mac 11.5. update and Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0.3 are created with new changes that are meant to improve security. These changes fix the vulnerabilities that an attacker might use in order to overwrite the content of a computer’s memory through the use of a malicious code.

It is recommended to the customers to immediate apply for the update and converter.
