Inexpensive Laptops

The laptops are really popular these days, and this is why they are produced by many companies such as: HP, Dell, Asus, Lenovo, Acer, Apple, Sony, Toshiba, Fujitsu, MSI, Alienware, Gateway and others. Each of these companies is offering a wide variety of laptop models, with all sorts of features, sizes and prices. And just like in any other domain, the smaller products are also the cheapest ones. So the best inexpensive laptops are the netbooks. A netbook looks just like a regular laptop, only that it is even smaller. They usually have a display screen of 10.1 inch, and they don’t have an optical drive and a full size keyboard – to reduce size and weight

There are many models of netbooks on the market, and for today we’ll discuss about one of them – the Toshiba Mini Netbook / Intel ® Atom ™ Processor - Celestial Black, Model: NB 255 - N 250. As we said the netbooks are the best inexpensive laptops, so this model is a cheap one too. it has a price of just 329 dollars. For these money you won’t get a very powerful laptop, but you will have a small and light laptop that can handle the simple computer activities, and especially the internet browsing. It has the Intel ® Atom ™ processor N 455 that features 512 KB L 2 cache and 1.66 GHz processor speed, and a RAM memory of 1 GB DDR 2 (which can be expanded up to 2 GB).

As we said it doesn’t have an optical drive and its display screen is a 10.1 " WSVGA LED backlit widescreen display with TruBrite technology and a 1024 x 600 resolution. The hard drive has a good capacity of 250 GB and a speed of 5400 rpm. The graphics engine is just the basic Intel ® Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 with up to 250 MB dynamically allocated shared memory. The sound is just a simple one too, and it has 2 built in stereo speakers with no other technologies. It has a built in webcam with microphone which makes it easy to chat with and send video mail to family and friends. It also has a 3 in 1 media card reader with support for Secure Digital, Secure Digital High Capacity and MultiMediaCard formats.

It also has built in wireless LAN (802.11 b / g / n) and built in 10 / 100 Ethernet LAN with RJ 45 connector so that you can easily connect to the internet wherever you have the chance. It weighs only 2.8 lbs and measures just 1.3 inch thin, so it is really portable. But even though it is so small, it has a very big battery life, unlike the ones you find on bigger laptops. it can last for up to 8 hours and 21 minutes. It has the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter Edition operating system preinstalled and also a software package included with Adobe Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Works 9 and a 60 day trial version of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 also included. And finally it is Energy Star Qualified so it uses less energy and meets strict energy efficiency guidelines. Enjoy it!

This mini wonder measures just 10.3 x 1 x 6.6 inches and weights less than 3 lbs. You can figure out it is slightly 1” thin. The keyboard is almost full size (actually 95%) but yet comfortable and very pleasant to type or play some games. The display is 10.1” with BrightView Infinity giving excellent image quality and bright, vivid colors. You will be amazed to see that it even has a HP mini webcam so you can start a video-conference or video-call any friends while you are on the road or in a trip. Additionally when you purchase the mini laptop you also receive a protective red silk sleeve of course designed by Vivienne.

From now on you don’t have to search a colorful case to make your laptop a fashionable gadget you have both style and power features in one single gadget. It is a combination of HP and awarded designer Vivienne TAM (belonging to her 2009 spring collection). Actually I thing it is the first designer mini-laptop, or not? Colors used are violet and red, even on the inside clearly spotted on the keyboard and touchpad. This is actually a good choice if you are looking for something small, but not too small, with good performance and to meet your daily tasks.

The processor is Intel Atom packing 47 million transistors on a single chip, small but powerful. While you surf the internet the pages will load up quickly and you can even run multiple pages at once. They will not lower the power of the mini laptop. Acer Dual Core 2gb 250gb Dvdrw Notebook

If you are looking for an Acer notebook with dual core processor, 2GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive and a DVD/RW drive then feast your eyes at the Acer Extensa 5635z.

This is one notebook aimed more for business, meaning its strong points are performance and portability. The design has nothing extraordinary to outline, simple black casing with matching keyboard and touchpad, not noticeable actually. The keyboard though is a bit cramped as the keys are very close one to another. The one good thing about design is the construction; business people will enjoy its solid construction. And the price is also reasonable, $1099.

This Acer notebook is powered by a Pentium Dual-Core T4200 CPU and the graphics are Intel GMA4500M 64MB. The 250GB storage on the hard drive gives plenty of room to save all your files, documents, pictures and the 8x DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive allows you to both write DVDs and laser-etch text or images on them. In order to do this you just have to flip the disc when the burning process has ended. As for connectivity there are three USB ports, multi-format card reader and for networking you settle with Ethernet, Bluetooth and 802.11n. Being aimed at business, the operating system is Windows Vista Business 32-bit offering related capabilities for your needs. Along with the operating system, there are other software pre-installed on this notebook, some in full-version and some with trial. The screen has 15.6”, text and images look good on it. The total weight of the notebook is 2.5kg.

Business notebooks are designed for productivity and not for multimedia purpose actually. Editing documents, or creating spreadsheets and even PowerPoint presentations are designed pretty fast, but you will have to get used with the cramped keyboard. Having Intel built-in graphics rated a 3DMark06 score of 779. Don’t expect to play some games in the office during the conference as you’ll be disappointed, unless you enjoy Solitaire as it works just fine each time. The battery life is not impressive at all; it is 6-cell and will last for about two hours. This won’t be enough if you are on the road most of the time and always need to stay connected, especially to the internet. There are some battery saving features and tips you can keep count of, like disable the screen brightness or closing some tabs or applications you don’t use anymore, and you will earn more than two and a half hours. But keeping count it has a pretty big screen, it requires resources and we can understand this aspect.

So if you are looking for a basic business notebook, with simple productivity offers than this is the right choice. If you happen to read forums, the opinions are pared, some are satisfied with the capabilities, but some actually prevent us form buying this Acer notebook. Business people require much from their gadget, as it must have security features, long battery life and applications to help them fasten up their work, but this decent priced notebook doesn’t provide the latest technologies or the best features looked for.
