If we forget about Dell, MSI is another company that I really love, and with products that never disappointed me. Unfortunately, I still have to try some MSI laptop for a longer period of time, and grabbing some MSI optical drive wouldn't make me more happier than some high-end MSI video card, if I think well about it...

... but let's stop dreaming and talk about the MSI X340 now, shall we? I'll start with the sad part and tell you that, at least in the near future, you'll have to go to Japan to grab one... or at least send someone to get it for you, because the MSI X340 will only become available there, at the end of next week.
The technical specs list isn't such a big surprise, since the MSI X340 got a lot of media coverage until now, so if you missed hearing about it so far, here's what should be enough to make you interested in this little guy: Core 2 Solo SU3500 processor, 2GB of memory, 320GB of storage space on a "classic" HDD, and a 13-inch LCD. Add its sexy shape, and you may have a winner...
According to MSI Japan, the X340 should become available on the 6th of June, priced somewhere around 100,000 Yen. That's a bit expensive, in my opinion, since we're talking about over $1,000, at the current exchange rate... but sexy gadgets shouldn't come cheap, right? ;)

If you didn't know it, Alienware has been taken over by Dell some time ago. Fortunately, this didn't change much, at least on the surface - the Alienware brand is still on the market, and its products are the same as before - expensive toys for gamers... only that, if I look closer, some of them are real bargains!

The Alienware M17X is just another gaming laptop from Alienware, packing the following specs:
- A single 1GB nVidia GeForce GTX260M GPU (upgradable to dual 1GB nVidia GeForce GTX 280M GPUs!)
- An Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz P8600 CPU (upgradable to a Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core CPU)
- 4GB of RAM (Up to 8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 RAM)
- A 250GB 7200-rpm hard drive (upgradable to a 1TB 7200-rpm or to 512MB of solid-state storage capacity [Raid 1 or Raid 0]; users can swap out hard drives by removing the battery)
- A slot-loading DVD-RW drive (upgradable to dual-layer Blu-ray Disc)
- A nine-cell battery
- An nVidia GeForce 9400M G1 GPU with HybridPower technology
- 802.11n Wi-Fi
- An optional 1920-by-1200-resolution edge-to-edge LCD
All that, right inside of the black anodized aluminum hood, just as I love them!
Price? Who cares about the price, when talking about Alienware machines? Probably not those buying them, but - as I was saying earlier - some of the Alienware products are really well placed into the market, and the Alienware M17X is no exception to that rule, starting at $1,799.

I love Dell! I know it's not the first time to say it, because this time, it has quite a meaning - the old Dell CRT monitor I told you about some time ago is no more, since I traded it in for a new LG LCD. I already miss that old one, but as long as the user of this new one(my wife) is happy, that's fine with me!

Leaving that old monitor aside, we have some new laptops from Dell, right between netbooks and laptops, since a 14-inch screen seems the minimum acceptable to a laptop, at least as I see things. The Dell Studio 14Z is this new laptop family, and while it doesn't bring anything revolutionary, it's a nice addition to Dell's arsenal.
The Dell Studio 14Z comes with the following specs:
- 14" LED display with HD resolution (720p/900p)
- between .79" and 1.2" thick, starting at 4.3lbs
- up to Intel T9550 2.66GHz CPU
- NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
- HDMI and DisplayPort outputs
- 1.3MP webcam
- dual digital array microphones
- 2.0-channel audio system
While the six-cell battery is standard, you have the eight-cell as an alternative, promising over six hours of battery life, with the WLED display option.
At last, you should know that the Dell Studio 14Z is priced starting at $649, so it won't empty your bank account, that's a fact!

Here we are again - gaming laptops! Nothing bad about gaming laptops, only that I think gaming and laptops only have in common Solitaire, Heroes III, 2D browser-based games, and similar ones in terms of system load. Don't get me wrong - I am sure there are a bunch of laptops capable of running Crysis better than my desktop computer, only that they'll also generate a lot of heat, and probably will also "die" pretty soon because of that. Anyway, today I got some news about those who are still looking for such a laptop, and the hero of the day is iBUYPOWER's Battalion 101 CZ-10.

While iBUYPOWER can't match ASUS, Dell, or another of the big ones in the industry, the Battalion 101 CZ-10 isn't the laptop to be ashamed of. After all, I am sure that once you'll get it, you'll surely get on top of over 95% of all those using branded laptops everyone heard of, but with specs way below this one.
Since I seem to believe that the Battalion 101 CZ-10 is clearly superior to most laptops on the market, here's something to make you believe it too:
- 15.6-inch WXGA (1,366 x 768) display
- 2.66GHz T9550 Core 2 Duo processor
- 2GB of DDR3 RAM
- ATI's 512MB Radeon HD 4650 GPU
- 500GB 5400RPM hard drive
- 8x dual-layer DVD burner
- 6-cell battery
- HDMI output
- three USB 2.0 sockets
- 2 megapixel webcam & inbuilt microphone
- 3-in-1 card reader
- fingerprint scanner
Starting at only $1,235, the Battalion 101 CZ-10 also comes with a new accidental damage protection plan, insuring against damage from accidental spills or drops.
These being said, I guess there's only one thing left to be added - game on with Battalion 101 CZ-10, boys and girls, game on!
