The hard drive offers plenty of space to store all sorts of files, and it has a capacity of 320 GB (and a speed of 5400 rpm). The graphics engine may not be very powerful, but for the day to day simple computer activities it is just fine. It has an Intel ® HD graphics card. In case you are not happy with the display screen of 15 inch when watching a movie, you can connect this laptop to a High Definition TV thanks to the HDMI port.

This laptop is not very powerful, but not weak either. It also comes with an installed version of the Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64 bit operating system, and some installed programs such as: Microsoft Works, Adobe Reader and a 60 day trial of Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007. When you think of Alienware you think of desktop replacements, laptops, big strong gaming machines and not at all about notebooks. Well there are some Alienware notebooks and one of them is Alienware M11x. it delivers the same solid game performance, great ergonomic keyboard, high-end graphics. And because it is still a notebook the size is reduced and the screen is just 11.6” and what is more it does not have an optical drive.  Although it is smaller, the price for this Alienware notebook starts at $799.

The Intel Core 2 Duo processor combined with the Nvidia graphics card work together to give you the best result in playing mainstream games. Even if the starting features are good, they are not great such as the big Alienware M15x, which really has what it takes to be a truly powerful gaming machine, but the price is also powerful. On our notebook, there are 4GB of DDR3 installed, a 500GB hard drive to give you enough room to store all your games and even make sure they work smoothly. It measures 11.3 inches x 9.2 inches and it weights 4.5 pounds without the AC adapter. To go on, the operating system installed is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Alienware M11x is still thick but ultraportable and the look can be considered cleaner than other Alienware laptops. It comes in silver and black color so the choice is yours and of course the black alien head logo on the black lid.

The system is well-constructed and it feels solid. When opening the Alienware notebook, the interior is black with a multicolor keyboard LED backlit. The screen has 11.6” and it is glossy with a native resolution of 1,366x768. When kept in rooms the color quality is great, but in bright light however it could turn out to be a bit blurry and fade. One thing we can’t argue about is audio, the incorporated 5.1 speakers deliver loud and crisp sounds. And if you really want truly gaming experience you can turn the volume up and feel how the room trembles. The keyboard is also improved, as it feels well-spaced and solid while typing and you can customize the logo lights on the keyboard in any color you like using the applications given.



The lack of the optical drive might bother some if they were considering using discs to install games, but the ability to use Steam, which is pre-installed on Alienware, or any downloadable games or software don’t require the use of discs. As for other connectivity possibilities, you have VGA-out, HDMI port, dual headphone jacks and one microphone jack, three USB ports, dual SD/Memory Stick card reader,, no expansion port, a mini-FireWire, Bluetooth, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.



Alienware M11x got a benchmark test at 69.5 frames per second while running Unreal Tournament at 1,366x768-pixel resolution. In other tests however, the game Batman: Arkham Asylum, run a bit choppy sometimes, but Just Cause2 for example opened landscapes very smooth and at high-details. The 6-cell battery will last for about three and a half hour and if you use the battery-saving mode and turn off the graphics you will be able to enjoy more. The warranty is for two years, with a four year upgrade available.
