OCZ DIY Lets You Build a Laptop as You Like

OCZ’s Do It Yourself initiative announced in May woke up the interest in computer gamers to build a laptop choosing exactly the components they need for different types of gaming environments they use to defeat the opponents in.

OCZ DIY allows you to build a laptop computer starting from the internal configuration and ending with your preferred design. Yesterday, the provider of high-quality memory units introduced its first model from the series, a 15-inch portable gaming system running with the Intel Centrino 2 processor technology.

“At OCZ, empowering the enthusiast end-user in the mobile gaming space is an exciting opportunity for us, and with the powerful technology found in our latest Intel Centrino 2 based notebook we are again at the forefront of this growing market,” said Ryan Edwards, Director of Product Management.

“With OCZ DIY notebooks, end-users have complete control of the cost/performance ratio of key components, giving consumers the opportunity to personalize a true gaming and multi-tasking powerhouse notebook by using a validated component list and our easy to follow step-by-step manual included with every DIY package.”

OCZ’s first 15-inch DIY notebook features 1280 x 800 display resolution on a glossy screen, an ATI Radeon HD3650 GPU with 512MB GDDR3 graphics memory, up to 8GB Dual Channel system memory, up to 500GB HDD storage, DVD burner optical drive, optional Blu-ray, HD audio sound cards, integrated touchpad with scrollbar, and a 6-cell Li-Ion battery.
