NorhTec is a company focused on designing and manufacturing smaller computers and servers at lower costs, energy efficient solutions.
Recent rumors describe a new Eee PC competitor coming from NorhTec, running on Linpus Linux Lite operating system based on Fedora, with a tabbed interface, similar with Xandros.

Linpus Linux created by Linpus Technologies from Taiwan was specially developed for the Asian market as a support for low-cost computers, and the Lite version is best supported by low-memory and low-speed systems with VGA resolution screens.



At a price of around $300 it will be powered by a Via C7M ULV processor of 1GHz speed, and will integrate an optional PATA drive to allow 18-inch cable lengths providing the least expensive interface for this type of application.
NorhTec Gecko will sport a 7-inch display.
