Some weeks ago, we wrote about the release of the ThinkPad T61 laptop PC series.

Today, Lenovo has announced the features for the ThinkPad X61 Tablet PC and ThinkPad X61 ultra-portable laptops, both expected to become available in June.

The 12.1-inch screen X61 series tablets and small laptops are based on Intel Centrino Duo “Santa Rosa” platform.

The ThinkPad X61 Tablet offers great features and options,including:

* Intel Core 2 Duo L7300 (1.4 GHz) or L7500 (1.6 GHz) processor, both with 4 MB L2 cache and 800 MHz front-side bus (FSB) featuring Intel SpeedStep technology1 for maximum and battery-optimized performance
* Enhanced port replication and expansion via the optional ThinkPad X6 Tablet UltraBase
* Integrated UltraConnect antenna to help optimize worldwide frequency coverage and performance for improved wireless LAN (WLAN) connectivity on 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g2 networks3

* Microsoft Windows Vista operating system

On models with Windows Vista operating system Lenovo takes a great user experience and makes it even better. Lenovo systems include improvements in security, systems recovery, and location management.

The cheapest X61 tablet configuration costs $2,242, while the notebook version starts at $1,399.
