Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 Notebook CPU Announced

The latest processor from Intel, Core 2 Duo Extreme 9000 Penryn for notebooks will be released later this month according to the company.The notebooks that will run on these new CPUs will be only those selected and some of them are announced to appear in March.
Intel said it will be the fastest mobile chip and will make the notebooks powerful at least same as desktop computers.
The processor clocked at 2.8GHz is using 800MHz front side bus with 6MB of L2 cache and it is supposed to be overclockable.
It will be sold at $851 in 1,000 unit tray quantities and according to the performance tests at Intel, it has 4% and 7% better results in 3DMark06 and Cinebench R10 benchmarks, compared to the 65nm Core 2 Extreme X7900 model with 4MB L2cache and 2.8GHz speed.
