In case you didn’t know, HP has taken over Compaq Presario, but has left the original name for the popularity it had among its customers. And even still, Compaq does deliver good products and what is best the prices are affordable.

HP and Compaq Presario notebooks have certain features in common as they are the same thing know, but certain specifications differ. Compaq has laptop series (for example CQ40, CQ60) and so does HP. The good thing is that there are two main websites for each of the brands. In case you don’t find something on one of them you can turn to the other. Personally I like more Compaq Presario websites as it is more familiar and a bit homier, HP is a bit formal all in gray gives a stiff impression at first sight.

You don’t see this amount on many laptops and if you decide to upgrade you will see an improvement for sure in speed and performance. Video graphics include ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics RS780M and the video memory goes up to 1406MB.

The hard drive stores 160GB, leaving you with enough space to create folders, save files, documents, pictures, music, applications, games and what else you want. Speakers incorporated don’t sound bad at all, they are Altec Lansing and they give sound quality to be proud of. The keyboard has 101 keys and the touchpad has the on/off button and dedicated scroll vertical Up/Down. Of course the external ports are present here including three USB ports, one for each headphone and microphone, one HDMI, one for modem and one for LAN.

The cq40-215wm laptop weights 5.04 lbs and has the 13.15 in (L) x 9.33 in (W) x 1.30 in (min H) / 1.57 in (max H) dimensions. There is a 6-Cell Lithium-Ion, which depending on the configuration and the applications you run will keep you for about 2-3 hours. The operating system enabled here is Windows Vista Home Premium along with other software you receive already installed on the computer.  Don’t forget about Norton Internet Security 2009 with 60 days of update for your personal security.
