If you had the chance to read our previous article about the new Gdium Liberty 1000 mini notebook computer you had probably noticed that it comes with optional 4GB or 16GB flash storage.
This means it doesn't feature hard disk drive, nor Solid State Drive, and that's why it practically uses this G-Key boot USB stick from the same manufacturer, to boot the Linux-based operating system and store all your data on a removable device.
Gdium mini notebook computer powers up when you insert the USB key with all your applications and other data on it.



The smart concept of the boot USB stick is safe as it keeps your data in a separate location and in case the computer is lost or stolen, the person who gets it won't be able to access the information. Another aspect is that you can't use the same G-Key with other Gdium mini notebook computer systems, as it's not supported, each model being compatible only with its own bootable USB key.

More than these, the storage capacity is not limited to 16GB. You may add up to 32GB attaching an SDHC card to a second USB port.



Together with the Linux operating system you get other open-source applications such as Open Office, Firefox, ThunderBird, ClamAv, Spam Assassin, The Gimp, Scribus and more.
