If you want a gaming laptop then you will need to spend some money. And even if you see the starting price, don’t get fooled because the specifications and the components are basic for gaming, once you start customizing then the price will rise.
There are several gaming laptops to choose from. All of them have powerful parts, high resolution screens, lots of memory installed to make sure everything runs smooth, intense graphics and spacious hard drive to have room for your favorite 3D games.

If you are looking for the best, then everybody will say that Alienware has them. It is true, Alienware m15x for example or the huge m17x have all you need. The pack powerful Intel Core Duo Extreme processors, high resolution screens and hard drives of 500GB and 1TB. They are recommended for gaming and intense multimedia use, but definitely not for travelers, they weight a lot and you don’t want to risk anything with a $3000 or $5000 system. What is more, the battery hasn’t got such a long life, just a couple of hours, so you would better keep it safe at home on your desk.
If you are looking for something a bit cheaper you can try Asus Republic of Gamers G73Jh. This one packs 1.6GHz Intel Core i7-720QM processor, 8GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive, DVD-RW drive, a 17.3” display with a native resolution of 1920x1080 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 graphics (1GB). It is heavy as well, 7.4 pounds, but far from 11 pounds as for the Alienware. Windows 7 Home Premium is the operating system for mostly all gaming laptops. It is priced at $1599 and it is one of the most top-valued laptops in this price range.

To continue, Eurocom D900F Panther, 2010 version also has what it takes to be a truly gaming laptop. This one has a high price, $4250, but has reasons to be proud of. It is powered by a 3.33GHz Intel Core i7-980X Extreme processor, 6GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, DVD-RW combo drive, 17.1” display, Nvidia GeForce GTX 480M graphics, Windows 7 as well for operating system and it weights 11.9 pounds. As you can see these kinds of laptops are not portable at all. This laptop has the speed of light when processing, 3D horsepower so if you have the money, then this would be a great choice for entertainment use. Another cheaper system is MSI GT66R, priced at $1550. Even if the price is smaller, the features aren’t. it has a 1.73GHz Intel Core i7-740QM processor, 6GB of RAM, packs two 500GB hard drives, DVD combo drive, 16” display, Nvidia GeForce GTX 285M graphics, Windows 7 and it is more portable at 7.7 pounds. Graphics are very good and the overall performance is satisfying. It will handle your favorite games without having to spend your entire money.
HP Pavilion HDX Dragon would be another good pick for gamers, but this laptop is more entertainment oriented, for watching movies, streaming videos, turn your system into a home-cinema. Design is great and features as well, but it comes a bit more expensive than it is probably worth it.
