Dell Latitude Laptops

For a price of approximately $1400 you can buy the Dell Latitude D630. In this review we are going to discuss about a laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor with 512 MB of RAM, an Intel GMA X3100 graphics card and 80 GB of available disk space. Note that the RAM is upgradeable as this laptop can support up to 4 GB in total. In the first few minutes of looking at the machine, you could tell by the look that it was build to last. The hinges are well fixed but the lid will have no trouble in opening. The 14.1 inch display is brighter than most of you imagine.

Since we didn't see any opening we assumed the speaker were inside the laptop. We were right; they are located underneath your left palm. Even if these speakers are loud, the sound is not necessarily clear. When switching the sound volume between medium and high, you can hear sound distortions which are unpleasant and could have been avoided. If you will use this notebook to run multiple tasks, it is recommended you buy extra RAM. With about 2 GB of RAM, the laptop should run smoothly even with bug applications like Abode Photoshop which eats up a lot of memory.

The keyboard is black and comfortable to use. The buttons are not noisy and between the left and right mouse button of the touchpad, you will find the fingerprint reader. This feature reminded us of the HP Pavilions' security system. The battery life is both excellent and surprising. The 9-cell battery on this laptop will last about 5 hours and 15 minute with the wireless function turned on and browsing the internet. Can you imagine how long the battery would last if you were to disable the wireless networks and use it for very simple tasks like reading or writing a document? One good thing is that when you order this laptop, you will probably receive it with no useless software installed.

Since this laptop is designated to office users, you will get your with a security package which helps you select the level of security desired as to protect the documents that are stored on these machines. If you have more than one person that uses this laptop it's recommended you choose a password authentication and if there is only one user, you can go with fingerprint reading. These options are also available to protect the hard drives. If you choose the fingerprint authentication when turning on the laptop, you will not even be able to access BIOS without the proper "finger" so in case this laptop is stolen, it's going to be pretty hard to get access to the files inside your laptop.

If you wind up with the standard 512 MB of RAM you may want to upgrade to at least one 1 GB. If you are not going to take the laptop to a specialized person, you should know that the RAM slots are in two places. The one that is under the laptop should be easily accessed by removing a couple of screws. On the other hand, the RAM slot which is under the keyboard is going to give you some trouble and we recommend you contact a technician just to make sure you don't mess things up. First you have to remove the hinge, which is very sensitive and improper handling could cause it to crack and then remove the keyboard. Should you have any need of support from Dell, you can call the numbers shown on their website and you will be pleased to find out that all the representatives are especially trained and have the necessary knowledge to answer all your questions.

If you own a company which is in need of a good laptop, we recommend you look into the Dell Latitude E6400. The starting price is $1139 but you will probably end up paying $2000 since there are a lot of cool extra features you are bound to want on your laptop as well. For that second price you will get a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P6800 processor with 2 GB of RAM plus the nVidia Quadro NVS 160M graphics card which are really good components for a business laptop. However, we know that the guys at Dell want to deliver good quality and this is why they put good components in their laptops. With the specs of this laptop, it's fair to say you can buy it for personal home use as well. For an extra $50 you can get the backlit keyboard which is excellent if you have to type in the dark or in a dimly-lit environment. This 14.1 inch laptop is bit heavier than other similar ones but the build quality makes it so durable that what are a few extra pounds? You will have 4 USB ports and this is ideal for companies as you will probably connect memory sticks and printers and scanner at the same time. You have a SD card reader, VGA and Display output, your regular Ethernet jack plus the stereo speakers, microphone and headphones jack. You also have an integrated Bluetooth device and a DVD burner in case those 160 GB of disk space are not enough and you need to make copies of your files to free some space.
In the $2000 you will also have the fingerprint reader which is a must for laptops that are left in handy for anyone to mess with. With fingerprint authentication, only you can access the computer as it will not even enter BIOS without your approval. The good thing about this Dell Latitude laptop is that you can customize it in any way you choose and you will not be asked to pay for features that you don't need. We recommend that you choose all the specification we have mentioned in order to get a full quality experience while using your Dell business laptop.
