Dell Laptops Reviews

Dell is a personal computers manufacturer, a multinational technology corporation and one of our favorite laptop brands. For a few years, Dell was the largest PC and servers' seller in the world but today they also develop, produce and sell TVs, cameras, MP3s, printers and other electronics built by other manufacturers. In 2006, Dell was on the 8th place one of the most admired companies in the United States and it has been expanding itself for almost 15 years.

These are the facts today: Dell is ranked number 1 in Technology Business Research in 2009; they are the preferred desktop and laptop providers for companies in the States; they have nearly 2 billion interactions with their customers every year. Not to mention that they ship about 140,000 systems each day and the 10 largest companies in the United States run on Dell. Pretty impressive, isn't it?

Let's talk about one of Dell's laptops, one that surely was a best-seller, the Inspiron 1525. This is a very good choice for you basic computing needs. The CPU is Pentium Dual-Core Mobile Processor T2390, which features 1MB of L2 cache and operates on a 533MHz front side bus. It usually comes with Windows Vista Premium installed, but it will work just as fine with Windows XP on it. The price is about 600 dollars. The keys are the same size as those on other Inspiron models and above you will find media control buttons (for example, you can adjust the sound volume with these buttons). The display is 15.4 inches long. Since this laptop does not have a dual core processor, speed is not one of its strong points. It may be quite slow if you force it by running too many applications but it comes in handy for your academic needs. You can still enjoy a good and long movie as the Inspirons' 1525 battery will last up to 3 hours. The Inspiron 1525 ran for 3 hours and 10 minutes on the video playback test (which is meant to drain the battery) using the included six-cell battery and this is a nice improvement over the more expensive 1525, which lasted only 2 hours and 15 minutes on the same test--perhaps because of its more powerful CPU. There's a pretty obvious trade off to consider--slower performance and longer battery life versus faster performance and shorter battery life.

Let's see some more about Dell laptops. If the Inspiron 1525 was you average everyday tasks laptop, Dell also has a laptop for game addicts, which is surely one of the best in the field. The Dell XPS M1330 was a pleasant surprise in terms of design and performance. This premium product, which can cost you more than 2000 dollars, may be worth your money if you are looking to enjoy games like Quake 4, Warcraft 3 or FIFA 2008. 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 is a really good processor and the 128MB Nvidia GeForce Go 8400 graphic card will came in handy to all you gamers out there. You will be in danger of falling in love with this laptop. The keys are silver with black accents and the lid is available in white, black and red. You will also find some touch-sensitive controls for media playback and volume, an eject button for the DVD drive and even a quick-launch button for Dell's Media Direct Software. After testing, it turned out that the Dell XPS M1330 was almost as good as the Apple Mac Book. However, user rating was 3 out of 5. Some customers believe that you can find other laptops with the same specs from other manufacturers at much better prices. Others think that the keyboard is lousy and the keys are too tough to push. People complained about the glossy screen, buzzing noise, bad customer service and constant system crashes. Happy customers think it's a great alternative for the Apple Mac Book as it is beautiful, light, fast and powerful.

The Adamo is another good Dell option if you are into 13 inch classy laptops. The price is a bit spicy, but if you want to be unique and elegant, luxury has its price. In fact, this is what sells Adamo: its looks. Right now, you can easily find much cheaper laptops with the same features. You can feast your eyes on the high-end features such as a solid-state hard drive, an etched anodized aluminum chassis and a backlit keyboard. Dell says the Adamo is the thinnest laptop in the world (only 16.3 mm thick).  You can purchase this laptop in black or white ("onyx" or "pearl" as Dell likes to call them). The Adamo brings typing to a whole new experience and the metal touch pad feels just great on your fingertips. Even though it's not intended to be very speedy, the Adamo will surely work well and will not slow down during regular usage: web surfing, working on office documents and media playback. When tested, the Adamo's battery lasted up to 2 hours and 36 minutes when tested with playback video but you can expect it to last longer if you just surf the web, listen to music or use it for office purposes. Dell will throw in another good deal: one year warranty with the system (this is called the Adamo Premier Service) and you get 24/7 phone support and for some extra money, you can extend you warranty period.

With such a great range of laptops to choose from how are you supposed to know which Dell to take come? Dell's website is fun, colorful and easy to use if you are looking to but one of their laptops. It has all the information you need for all the available models and using the Find the perfect laptop button, you can filter your choices. It allows you to choose how much you are willing to spend, asking you the appropriate questions (like what you will be using the laptop for and which features are most important to you) to offer you the right solution. Who knows, you may want to buy a laptop and you will end up buying a TV instead.
