With the Tecra M5, Toshiba demonstrates yet again that it knows how to build a business-focused laptop at a good price. This 5.2-pound thin-and-light has every feature mobile pros might be looking for (save one), plus a host of built-in security and durability features. Nicely configured at $1,799, this notebook won’t break the budget.
Wrapped in an attractive silver metallic-flake chassis, the Tecra M5 isn’t too flashy. Lift the lid and you’ll find a bright 14.1-inch screen. The height of the 4:3 display might mean a tight fit on airplane tray tables, but the viewing-angle performance from above and side-to-side was good.
We also appreciate the native 1024 x 768-pixel resolution, which made text and icons easily viewable. The Nvidia Quadro NVS 110M mobile GPU delivers a host of display options, including multimonitor support.

Like its predecessor, the Toshiba Satellite R25 crams all the amenities of a standard notebook into Tablet form. It sports an Intel Core Duo T2500 (1.6-GHz) processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 100GB SATA HDD, DVD Super-Multi drive, and a 14.1-inch TruBright WXGA+ display. Here’s the bottom line:
If you were looking for a notebook and thought about the Toshiba Satellite R25 for the added bonus of tablet functionality, skip it. However if you are an artist looking for a Tablet PC with the main purpose of drawing and writing on the screen the Toshiba Satellite R25 is an option to consider, if only for the lack of tablet selection in general and at that price range in particular .

Toshiba has recently dominated the field of desktop-replacement media machines with its Qosmio line, and the company's first Satellite P105 configuration, the Satellite P105-S921, performed in line with some of the better gaming laptops on the market.
But not every user can afford to shell out $2,300 on a Qosmio, nor does everyone want to play high-end games on their machine. For more budget-crunched buyers, the company offers a $1,149 configuration of the Satellite P105 that includes Harman Kardon speakers, a bright 17-inch display, and Windows XP Media Center Edition.
While the Toshiba Satellite P105-S6024 lacks some of the high-end components found in its more-expensive siblings, the P105S6024 does offer a decent media experience at a price that undercuts most of the competition--you'll spend $100 more for a similarly configured HP Pavilion dv8000 and $300 more for a similar Gateway NX860X. For basic home users who want an affordable desktop-replacement laptop to watch movies, rip discs, and manage photos, the Toshiba P105-S6024 is a great choice.

The Toshiba Satellite P105-S921 offers excellent performance that comes courtesy of a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo T2400 (1.83-GHz) processor, 1GB (2x 512MB) of DDR2 memory, 160GB SATA hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900GS graphics, and a LG DVDRAM Super-Multi drive. Its 17-inch widescreen display with TruBrite technology is perfect for multimedia applications. Here’s the verdict:
Toshiba finally gives us a true gaming laptop.
After having huge 17″ multimedia monsters like the Qosmio, they now offer one of the top gaming performance to boot. Perfect for Lan parties, or just showing off to your friends how much faster your laptop is to their PCs.
