The 17-inch widescreen Sony Vaio VGN-AR230G, the first entertainment Sony’s AR notebook with Core 2 Duo Mobile (Merom) processor, is now available at SonyStyle.com. The Vaio VGN-AR230G comes with a T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 cache) CPU, an 1GB DDR2 SDRAM (expandable to maximal 2GB), an 200GB 4200rpm SATA hard drive and a dual layer DVD burner .

The laptop’s multimedia card reader supports optional Memory Stick and Memory Stick DUO media with MagicGate functionality and Secure Digital Media (SD). The VGN-AR230G has one PCMCIA - Type II/Type I card slot with CardBus support and one ExpressCard/54 slot.

The new Vaio entertainment notebook incorporates 3 USB ports, 1 i.LINK® connector (IEEE 1394), 1 microphone in and ExpressCard/34 slot 5-in-1 Memory Card Adapter (supports Memory Stick, Memory Stick® PRO, Secure Digital, xD-Picture Card, & MultiMediaCard MMC).

The Sony Vaio VGN-AR230G comes with Microsoft Windows XP Media Edition 2005.

The estimated battery life for this laptop is 1.5 to 2 hours with standard battery. The Vaio VGN-AR230G weights 8.4lbs approximately, it’s black and costs $1,800.

The 15.4-inch widescreen VGN-FE770G with a Merom T5600 (1.83GHz) CPU, an 1GB DDR2 SDRAM (expandable to 2GB), an 120GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive, and an integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, costs $1350.

The Sony Vaio VGN-FE770G also incorporates built-in 802.11a/b/g wireless, and a DVD writer with dual layer. Regarding ports, it has 10/100 Ethernet, 3 USB 2.0, 1 (4-pin) Firewire, 1 VGA Out with Smart Display Sensor, 1 Headphone, 1 Microphone In, and ExpressCard/34 Slot 5-in-1 Memory Card Adapter (supports Memory Stick, Memory Stick® PRO, Secure Digital, xD-Picture Card, & MultiMediaCard MMC).

Sony has announced the VAIO N notebook series .

The VAIO N is a 15.4" screen notebook available with an Intel Core Solo or Core Duo processor that comes in three flavors to match your home decor: creamy coffee brown, black or white.

Based on the press release from Sony, they really are playing up the chic factor of this notebook more so than the technical specs of it. According to Mike Abary, vice president of VAIO product marketing, the VAIO N design was conceived for the "culturally creative" individual mind, who is focused on an "organic lifestyle."

Sony expands its sleek Type BX notebook line with the VAIO BX96PS. Featuring an Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 (2.16-GHz) CPU, 512MB of DDR2 memory, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics, 60GB HDD, and a 14.1-inch SXGA+ (1,400 x 1,050) display.

External interfaces on this 6.8-pound notebook include three USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, biometric fingerprint reader, 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, and a 4-in-1 memory card reader.

Sony will release the VAIO BX96PS on September 9th in Japan, with prices starting at $1,366.
