When you are looking for a rugged computer notebook which offers durability above all the other features, the Getac B300 is probably one of the best choices you could ever make. Even if this laptop comes with a starting price of over $3000, the price tag is understandable since this laptop is mainly dedicated to military, police, remote search companies and other such institutions. The idea is that this computer notebook can handle most difficult environmental situations that would destroy a regular notebook that we are used to working with.

The unit reviewed here came with a 1.6 GHz Intel Core Duo L7500 processor and 2 GB of RAM, with the possibility to extend to a maximum 4 GB. the graphics card is the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and the total amount of storage space is 120 GB. The dimensions of this unit are 11.9 x 10.53 x 2.36 inches while the total weight of the system is 8 lbs and 7.3 oz. as you can see, the specs would normally not justify the high price. However, in the case of the Getac B300, the price is not determined by the components, as the built in quality is the most important factor.

The Getac B300 comes with a decent selection of ports and connections. Here we have 2 USB ports, one docking station connector, a FireWire port, 2 serial ports, an Ethernet port, a modem port, a VGA out, a parallel port and the regular headphones out and microphone in jacks. But let us not waste any more time and speak about the aspect which is really important: the quality of the materials used on this notebook. One thing you will notice when you look at this laptop is that it comes with a lot of rubber bumpers which are there to protect especially the corners of this unit. The panels are lined with screws of stainless steel that holds ell the edges of the body together. Only the display cover holds 23 screws.

Every single aspect and detail of this notebook is designed to withstand all sorts of “unfortunate accidents” suck as water spilling or impacts. Every port is covered and sealed using special rubber caps or panels. The carrying handle is attached to the palm rest section of the notebook and it makes it easier to carry this laptop around, being as solid and rugged as the notebook itself. If I had one of these, I would really try hitting it gently against to wall because I hear there is a good chance of it bouncing off. The final thing that really impressed us when it came to the Getac B300 was the battery life. The unit managed to stay on for almost 9 hours on a full charge with the display brightness set to 70% and the wireless card activated. If you lower the brightness of the screen to the minimum level and disable the wireless adapter you could get even up to 12 hours of battery life which is amazing!

When it comes to laptop notebooks that not a lot of people have heard about, the Portable One SX-N7350 is one good example and after reading this review, you could feel sorry for not paying attention to this laptop model before.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
The Portable One SX-N7350 comes with a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2Duo T9400 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The total storage capacity of the hard drive is 250 GB while the graphics card is the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD. The dimensions of this laptop are 12.125 x 9.125 x 1.44 inches and the total weight of the system is 4 lbs and 4 oz. this is one of those laptop notebooks that can be considered an ultraportable as it has a display which measures only 13.3 inches in diagonal and it comes at a native resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The glossy coating of this laptop makes colors appear very rich and sharp at the sacrifice of reflections when the laptop is use in a powerfully lit environment. The price of the unit configures here was $1300 back in the fall of 2009. The unit comes with the preinstalled version of the Windows Vista Business operating system.

The keyboard of this laptop appears to be smaller than the keyboard that you usually find on 13.3 inch laptops. Even so, it feels very comfortable to type on the Portable One SX-N7350. The keys offer good feedback and a nice spring action from every individual key. There is very little flex noticed in the keyboard area and you won’t feel it unless you apply strong pressure. The touchpad on this unit shows no signs of significant lag; it is responsive and very easy to use. The left and right touchpad buttons are easy to press even if you use your thumbs and they produce a soft click.

As for the selection of ports and features, we are becoming more and more picky since we have discovered a lot of ultra portables with a very good combination of ports. This laptop has 3 USB ports to offers, along with the Ethernet port, a modem jack, an Express Card slot, an SD media card reader, a VGA put and the regular headphones out and microphone in jacks. This selection is average, even if we would have loved to see a HDMI port considering that for the price we pay for a Portable One SX-N7350 we could easily find a 13 inch laptop that has a better selection of ports. We would have expected to get a better battery life performance than what the Portable One has to offer. In general, when are dealing with ultra portables, we wish to come across a unit that can resist for long hours on battery power. With the display brightness set to 70%, the wireless card activated and the Windows Vista power management profile set to “balanced mode”, we managed to get about 2 hours and 20 minutes of battery life out of this laptop notebook.

Tablet notebook reviews can reveal some pretty interesting models which I bet some of you never knew existed. For instance, how many of you have read Tablet notebook reviews about the Yukyung Viliv S7, a netbook which did not have the same success as many other mini notebooks mostly because of advertising purposes. This just goes to show you how important marketing really is…
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
The starting price of this mini notebook is $699 which is higher than the usual $400 - $500 price tag of most netbooks on the market. However, the price of the unit reviewed goes all the way up to $799. This mini notebook is based on a 1.3 GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor and it comes with 1 GB of RAM. The total storage capacity of the solid state drive is 32 GB. The graphics card included on this system is the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500. The unit comes with the preinstalled version of the Windows XP Home Edition operating system. The dimensions of this unit are 8.9 x 5.3 0.98 inches while the total weight of the system including the power adapter is 2.24 pounds.

The 7 inch display of the Viliv S7 can be switches from normal to tablet in a matter of seconds. The image will also turn automatically from landscape to portrait. Even if the keys are really small and compact, typing on them is going to be a great experience as they offer positive feedback. Personally, I find the 7 inch display to be very small, even for a netbook. The native resolution of this display is 1024 x 600 pixels. Reading big web pages and documents is going to require a lot of scrolling. Selection of ports and connections is never good enough on a netbook, not to mention a 7 inch mini laptop. This is why the Viliv S7 comes with only 2 USB ports, one SD card reader, a VGA out, one mini USB port for system link, a custom input and output port and the regular headphones out and microphone in jacks.

You really have to think if this mini notebook is worth the financial effort because $800 is the price you have to pay to buy a decent Core 2 Duo laptop. The S7 is dedicated to people that really need a good and very portable laptop. I would say it is for the business segment because business people are the ones that really need a portable device to help them stay connected and get their work done every time. Battery performance is very important on a unit this small.

The Viliv S7 can be used for 8 continuous hours which is a performance way above the category average. I think I understand where the spicy price tag is coming from. With 8 hours of laptop usage you can get though a full day’s work without having a power outlet in handy and this is a very important buying decision factor for a portable mini notebook.

If you are looking to buy a mini notebook computer, we would like to redirect your attention to the Fujitsu M2010 netbook, a great and cheap portable device which is worth the money.

The unit reviewed comes at a price of $450 and for you money you shall get a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor and 1 GB of RAM. The total storage space on this laptop is 160 GB while the graphics card is the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The dimensions of this laptop are 10.2 x 7.4 x 1.3 inches and the total weight of the unit is 2 lbs and 8.8 oz. if you throw in the power adapter, the weight will grow up to 3 lbs and 5.2 oz. this mini notebook computer generally comes with the Windows XP Home operating system preinstalled. The 10.1 inch display comes at a native resolution of 1024 x 576 pixels. The glossy display is going to make colors rich and more vibrating and the levels of brightness and contrast are stunning.

As for the selection of ports and features, this laptop is host to 3 USB ports, one VGA out, a 4-in-1 media card reader, the Ethernet port and the regular headphones out and microphone in jacks. The keyboard on this Fujitsu M2010 is really small and people with big hands are going to have a problem typing on this keyboard. There is a wide border around the keyboard and combined with that glossy red finish it looks really good. Unfortunately, this does not allow a large typing surface. Even if the keys are small, people that do get used to the layout are going to have a great positive experience. The battery life of this mini notebook will keep the laptop on for about 2 hours and 15 minutes with the display brightness set to medium level and the wireless card enabled. Another fine
mini notebook computer is the Lenovo IdeaPad U150. This mini laptop is based on a 1.3 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. The graphics card is the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X 4500M. The total storage capacity of the hard drive is 320 GB. The unit measures 11.4 x 7.5 x 1.35 inches in dimensions and 2.97 lbs in weight without the power adapter. The starting price of this Lenovo netbook is $649 and the price of the unit configured in the review is $749. The unit comes with the 64 bit version of the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The display of this laptop measures 11.6 inches in diagonal and it comes with a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The unit is host to 3 USB ports, one SDHC card slot, a VGA out, a HDMI port, an Ethernet port and the regular headphones out and microphone in jacks. Battery performance on this unit is great as the Lenovo IdeaPad U150 will manage to stay on for 5 hours and 20 minutes with the display brightness set to 70%, the wireless card activated and the Windows 7 power management profile set to “balanced mode”

Like I always say, finding out which is the best laptop computer can be quite a difficult task because one unit that could be the best laptop computer for you, could be considered a bad option by another person. Things always depend on what you are going to use that laptop for and how much money you are willing to spend to get your hands on one of these units.

I think that the best thing to do is to see which is the best laptop computer so far in the year 2010 and see how many of you agree that this could be the best laptop computer for you as well. We expected to get a HP laptop or maybe a Dell model as the best laptop so far this year but we found another manufacturer on the 1st place which is quite a pleasant surprise and a major comeback. With a starting price of $1699, the number one spot is occupied by the Apple Mac Book Pro Spring 2010. The price of the unit reviewed here manages to reach $2199 so we are going to find out if the specs justify the high price. We all know that in the past, Apple laptop seemed very expensive with no apparent reason. The Apple Mac Book Air, for example, did not come with top of the line specs and it didn’t even have a decent selection of ports and connections and yet it had a 4 digit price tag.

The laptop reviewed here was based on a 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 M620 processor and 4 GB of RAM. He total storage capacity of the hard drive is 500 GB while the graphics card is the nVidia GeForce GT 330M switchable with then integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. The operating system that will be shipped together with the unit is the OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard. The dimensions of the unit are 14.4 x 9.8 x 0.95 inches while the total weight of the system is 6.2 pounds. To our surprise, even if we are dealing with a spicy price tag, the unit is somehow dedicated to the mainstream segment of customers.

The 15.4 inch display comes with a native resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels but if you are willing to pay some extra $100, you can buy the 1680 x 1050 pixels display. Let us take a look at the ports and connections of this unit and see if it continues with a successful strike. The unit is host to 2 USB ports, one Ethernet port, a mini Display port, one FireWire port and an SD card reader plus the regular headphones out and microphone in jacks. Instead of a mini Display port we would have preferred a VGA and a HDMI port. The battery life is an interesting chapter and the performance of the battery on this Apple Mac Book Pro Spring 2010 did not let us down. It managed to keep the laptop on for almost 6 hours of continuous laptop use.
