In China you can find various electronic devices at very affordable prices and maybe getting a new small laptop comparable with Asus Eee PC would be a great choice for ultra-portability and communication features.

Such a laptop example is the Inventec V10, a model available at just $230 with a display measuring 10 inches in diagonal, which is enough for emails, online chat and surfing the web, and maybe for being up to date with the latest news of your interest and some document writing.
Inventec V10 runs with a VIA C3 processor designed for low profiles, providing military-grade security features from the integrated VIA PadLock Security Engine. VIA presents it as a CPU featuring the VIA CoolStream architecture with enough performance for everyday applications, and low power consumer.

The model integrated in the Inventec V10 is clocked at 1GHz speed, while the laptop comes also with 120MB RAM memory, a 20GB HDD, Ethernet, modem, VGA port, infrared, microphone, 2 USB 2.0 ports but no wireless connectivity.
