Replace A HP Pavilion Laptop Keyboard

If you are looking to replace a HP Pavilion laptop keyboard, you should look first for a suitable replacement. No matter how good care you take of your keyboard it will eventually deteriorate in time. You could postpone the changing date by cleaning it once a weak and using a can of compressed air to blow the dust accumulated between the keys.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

If bread crumbs fall under the keys, it could stop the keys from being pressed all the way to the bottom. You don’t have to be a tech specialist in order to replace a HP Pavilion laptop keyboard. The tools that you need are a small flat head screwdriver, a Philips head screwdriver and a box or any recipient where you can store the screws to make sure you don’t lose them.

Before messing around with the unit, make sure you have removed the power cord from the laptop and also take out the battery so you can make sure there is no electrical power running through the notebook. After making sure that you are completely safe, it is time to start opening up the laptop and learning how to replace the keyboard. Using the flat head screwdriver you must carefully pry up the area located above the keyboard but be very careful as plastic tend to crack or brake so we don’t want you to start replacing the keyboard bezel as well.

Removing that plastic cover could reveal some screws which need to be removed. The screws help keep the keyboard in place. After you have removed these screws, use your fingers or a flat head screwdriver to lift the keyboard away from the main body of the laptop. Remember to put all the screws in the box we told you to get as you will need them to put the laptop back together again.

When you lift the keyboard be careful as there is still a ribbon cable which secures the keyboard to the motherboard and if you damage that cable there is a chance you will need to replace the whole motherboard so try to be as careful as you can. After you lift the keyboard, place it gently onto the palm rest area and the touchpad. The ribbon cable needs to be disconnected from the keyboard but it has to remain attached to the motherboard. Now you can install the new keyboard. Connect the ribbon cable to the new keyboard and then take all the steps backwards.

After you’ve solved the cable problem, you can put the keyboard back in its rightful place and then put all the screws from the box back into place. Place the cover above the keyboard and press it gently until it is in the correct position and now you can put the battery back inside the unit and connect the power jack as well. Turn on the laptop and check if your keyboard is working. If there was something that went wrong in the installations process, normally there would be errors in booting the operating system.

New HP Laptop

If you want to buy a new HP laptop and you can’t decide which one to get, we strongly recommend you buy the new Mini 1000 Mi. This mini-laptop looks pretty good because is slim and light with a beautiful design.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The Mini 1000 Mi new HP laptop is similar with the Mini 1000, with a case made of resistant glossy plastic and available only in black. Even if this notebook seems to have a delicate design, the case is very durable against scratches. Like most glossy laptop models, this is a magnet for fingerprints and dust, so you will need to clean it every time. At 10.3 x 6.6 x 1 inches dimensions and 1021 grams in weight, this mini-laptop certainly is a slim and light portable unit.

The keyboard on this laptop is great. The keys are flat, large with a soft finish so you will feel comfortable typing on them. With a positive feedback and a pleasant springy feel, this keyboard is excellent for a fast writer. Because this model is a mini-laptop, the touchpad is a bit small. Covered by a soft finish, this touchpad is very responsive but you will miss the mouse buttons. That can be a negative aspect because these buttons are very useful for scrolling or clicking.

The Mini 1000 Mi new HP laptop has a 10.1 inch display with a native resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Even if this screen has a glossy finish you will get clear images with great color quality. Powered by an Intel Atom 1.6 GHz  processor, even if it is a little too weak, and  1 GB of RAM memory,  the Mini 1000 Mi new HP laptop can run multi-tasks without problems.

The 60 GB hard disk will be enough for you to store your favorite music or movies. The internal speakers produce a surprisingly loud sound so you will only need external speaker if you want to listen to music at a greatly louder level. In terms of connectivity, this mini-laptop comes with 2 USB ports, a 2-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader, a modem port, an Ethernet port and the indispensable headphones and microphones jacks. The 802.11b/g Wireless Card is the only connection feature which can keep you in touch with other people.

The integrated 0.3 Megapixel Webcam is also a little too weak. The pictures have poor quality but if you want to record some clips you will be even more disappointed. The video quality is also poor and you will see delays even if you record that clip off-line.

The 3-cell battery will keep this unit up for only 2 hours and 39 minutes under stress conditions, half shorter than a regular laptop. This can be another negative aspect, but if you want, you can buy a second battery which will increase the battery life significantly. In conclusion, if you want to buy a mini-laptop which has a great aspect and design, we recommend you choose this model. Because this HP Mini 1000 Mi is not one of the best products from the HP, some people will ask why it has such a high price. Well, at a price of $424 you can’t expect for a stylish mini-laptop like this to have a lot of performance.

How To Open A HP Pavilion Laptop

If you want to replace a damaged component or simply upgrade one of the key components on your HP Pavilion, we are going to show you how to open up a HP Pavilion without having to call customer service support or taking the laptop to a hardware store.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

First of all, make sure that he laptop is not in the warranty period anymore as generally removing the screws can void the warranty. Different HP Pavilion models have to be dissembled in different ways as the screws and components are not always located on the same place. Let’s take the example of the HP Pavilion dv200 and see how to take it apart. Before starting this whole process I recommend that you keep a small box or container in handy so you can store the screws you take off because if any of them gets lost, it’s going to be difficult to put the laptop back together again.

Now that you are ready to start, make sure that you disconnect the power jack from the unit and that you take out the battery as well. We don’t want any power running though an electronic machine when we are ready to take it apart. Except for these 2 you also need to make sure there are no other devices attaches to any of the laptop’s ports, like USB of memory devices.

Flip the laptop upside down and get ready to remove all the screws that you see on the bottom. You could put them in separate containers or sort them by size so you can figure out where exactly each screw goes. After you have removed the screws, you can gently pull up the hard drive and all the memory modules. Flip the laptop over again so we can start removing the keyboard and the panels around it. You can use a small flat head screw driver to pry up the panel which includes the media touch controls.

Be careful when you remove the keyboard because there is a special cord which keeps it connected to the motherboard and if you want to take the keyboard completely away from the laptop you are going to have to gently pull the tabs using your finger and disconnect that cable. Removing the media touch pad is going to reveal more screws which need to be removed.

These are the basic steps that teach you how to open up a HP Pavilion but be careful as they were explained only for the dv2000 model. When you have followed the steps explained above, you will have revealed the motherboard of the HP Pavilion dv2000. You have to carefully remove the other components located here like the cooling fan, the video card or the processor if you want to completely replace the motherboard. You need a little bit of patience and a steady hand as you are dealing with fragile cables which you can’t afford to break or damage. This is why I recommend you only open up your laptop if you really don’t have any other option.
