You can also reload the operating system to resolve hardware drivers and to go back to previously installed programs. To manage a restore, power on your HP notebook and press the Esc key and the F10 key several times. In this way you will boot the FIOS Setup menu and not the operating system. Click on the System Restore when you see it in the Setup menu. In this way, your system will restore and recover the operating system, getting back the original settings. If this doesn’t solve the problem and your HP still doesn’t recognize the operating system, then you have to reinstall it once again. If you have Windows XP, then grab the installation disc and place it in the notebook. Reboot the system and press any key when the message “press any key to boot from CD” message appears. Follow the instructions on the screen, read the terms of agreement, accept them and continue the installation. Pick the hard drive you want Windows XP to be installed on and once the installation is finished, the notebook with restart. Moreover, select the geographic region you are in, the language, name and organization and type in the 25-character product key to validate the Windows XP copy.

Give your HP notebook a name, type the password for the administrator account and select the time and date for your specific location. Leave the default network selected and continue. Enter the network name in the Computer Domain and finally, the operating system will be loaded and will be displayed on your HP system. But you should know that the files, documents and data you had will be erased when reinstalling the operating system. If you had Vista on your notebook, the steps are mostly the same, just that some messages and pop-up text are different, so read them and make the settings you want. After reinstalling the operating system, check to see if you have the needed updates and you can visit HP to get drivers and everything you need, so that Windows will run smoothly.

Finally, install the antivirus program so you don’t have to deal with virus infections in the future and any other program you use on a regular basis. It will take a while, but at least you choose to have what you want on your notebook now. Specialists even say a format is needed once in a while.
