During CeBIT 2008, March 4-9, http://www.getac.com Getac, the leader in rugged mobile solutions, will expose its first ultra-durable notebook, the 8212 model, together with the E100 lightest rugged Tablet PC, the B300 fully-rugged notebook and the PS535E fully-rugged GPS navigation device.
What the Getac 8212 brings new includes extra durability with resistance to spills, drops and shocks, powerful components and a lightweight form factor of just 1.2Kg, with a 12.1-inch display.
In addition it is equipped with advanced security layers like the fingerprint reader, and a long battery life.
We will have to wait the CeBIT to start and get more information about the new Getac notebook’ full specifications, price and availability.

Another fully rugged PC announced by GETAC with no picture just the basic specifications, is the E100 lightweight tablet of just 3 pounds, promised to be available soon at an accessible price.
If you didn’t know, GETAC is a leader in innovation and manufacturing of rugged computers and solutions for the military, law enforcement, telecommunication, public safety, utility and mobile workforce industry.
Same as the B300 with night vision, the E100 model appears for the first time at the DistribuTECH 2008 Conference & Exhibition at the Tampa Convention Center and will be released for the market in March.
Owning an E100 means having a dirt, dust, motion, vibration, temperature resistant laptop and also a shock- and water-resistant model which you can use in any kind of extreme conditions.
It features an 8.4-inch TFT SVGA transmissive display with touch-sensitivity and optional Ultra-Bright screen for extremely light conditions and 800 Nit backlit LCD technology.
"The E100 sets a new standard in lightweight Rugged mobility at a competitive price that makes it attractive for deployment to an entire field-based workforce," declared Jim Rimay, the vice president of Sales & Marketing at GETAC. "It fills a tremendous void in the Rugged marketplace for a 8.4-inch slate tablet that is lightweight and balances on the palm of your hand, is easy to read even in the brightest sunlight, has the power and extended battery life to operate for long periods of time, and can be customized to meet a wide range of field and customer service applications."

It is strong on the exterior and powerful as machine integrating an Intel Stealey 512KB L2 cache CPU working at a speed of 800MHz and providing p to 5 hours of battery life, but also at least 512MB DDR II DRAM memory with the possibility to add up to 1GB, and 60GB/80GB/100GB shock-resistant HDD storage.
The wireless module is an 802.11b/g and it comes with Bluetooth 2.0, EV-DO, GPRS/EDGE and GPS connectivity and tracking capabilities.
Like the previous model, E100 is protected by several security elements including a smart card reader, the Kensington lock and TMP 1.2.

GETAC B300’s display is an ultra-bright 1200 nit with night vision capabilities and special software developed for auto-adjusting of brightness, removing the need for optical filters.
You will be able to see it and test it during the DistribuTECH 2008 Conference & Exhibition at the Tampa Convention Center, where it will be unveiled.

B300 weights 7.7 pounds and features a 13.3-inch TFT XGA transmissive Ultra-Bright display with optional touch-sensitivity.
It is powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo Merom L7500 processor at a speed of 1.6GHz and lets you operate it in any conditions for up to12 hours.
The internal memory is of 512MB DDR II RAM but you can add up to 4GB and there is integrated also a shock-resistant HDD of 80GB or 120GB storage capacity options.

It is ultra resistant due to its waterlight magnesium allow housing that is anti-shock and anti-vibrations, complying with the MIL-STD-810F and IP54 standards.
The wireless connection use 802.11b/g module and it comes also with LAN, Bluetooth 2.0, EV-DO and GPRD/EDGE connectivity support. GPS function is optional.
Among the strong security features we enumerate a fingerprint scanner, the optional smart card reader, TPM 1.2 and a cable lock.
