Fujitsu LifeBook A3110 is unique

Fujitsu LifeBook A3110 LaptopsFujitsu’s new LifeBook A3110 differs from other laptops : It’s white.

The lid, keyboard, and touchpad are colored in white, but there are few silver accents on the front edge, and the system's bottom is traditional gray.

Fujitsu LifeBook A3110 also differs by an unique hard-drive-protecting shock sensor. After this unique parts(design and security for hard-drive), there are also bad things to say about it : a poor four-cell battery which is too small for a system that features an AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processor and a 15.4-inch wide-screen display.(it's a mainstream laptop)

Fujitsu LifeBook A3110 is now available, priced at $1,399 ($1,249 after mail-in rebate for purchases before December 31, 2006).

Fujitsu Unveils Prototype Ultra Mobile PC

Fujitsu Ultra Mobile PC LaptopsFujitsu is taking the mobile PC one step further.

The PC manufacturer is in France this week showing off a prototype of a laptop that folds down into the size and shape of a CD case. Whether or not the company moves forward to develop and market the purse-sized laptop largely will depend on the reaction it receives at the International Industrial Design Fair, according to Sean Nemoto, a spokesman for Fujitsu.

"Pretty much, the fate of the prototype rests with the response we get," he said. "Normally, the lightweight mobile PC is for the businessman because he always carries a mobile PC and handset. This should reach beyond the businessman. This is quite unique."

The prototype, called the Ultra Mobile PC, is the size of a CD case when it's folded up. Then the user flips open an 8-inch display screen, just like he or she would on a normal laptop. But at this stage, the keyboard still is hidden. The user then flips open the keyboard, lifting it from left to right to open it up. When it's open, the keyboard will be about 16 inches wide, said Nemoto, who added that designers have been working on this for about a year.

He also said the laptop would be "very much lighter" than a normal notebook, but they're not yet sure what the exact weight would be. He also said they haven't made any decisions about what processor the machines would run or about any of the operating specifications.

"It's quite hard to say because it's a prototype and we need to consider [a lot of things] before we decide to commercialize," said Nemoto, speaking to InformationWeek from the design fair in France. "We haven't gotten to the production phase. There will be many discussions about this."

The design fair starts on Wednesday and runs through to early next week.

Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pi 1505

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo pi1505 LaptopsFujitsu Siemens has a track record of offering an enormous range of laptops with a huge choice of processors, so it's no surprise that it is backing Intel's new Core Duo processor with a vengeance.

Our review sample of the AMILO Pi 1505 sported a T2050 Core Duo that runs at 1.6GHz on a 533MHz FSB.

This is the slowest of the three dual-core options, although you could instead have a 1.8GHz Core Solo but we strongly favour the extra performance of dual core.

We got the bare minimum 512MB of DDR2 memory, although you can install up to 2GB in two modules, but despite the fairly lowly specification we found that performance in PCMark05 was very impressive, and presumably there is more to come if you opt for a faster processor.

Although the 60GB Fujitsu hard drive has a relatively small capacity its 5,400rpm spin speed contributes to the healthy performance of this laptop.
