Everex to Release a new Version of its Nanobook

Everex is planning to launch another version of its Nanobook ultra portable notebook, under the name Cloudbook that will have a starting price of just $450.
It will have a 7-inch display and Linux operating system pre-installed. Rumors say that Everex will launch it in January at Consumer Electronics Show 2008 in Las Vegas.

The Cloudbook is supposed to be powered by a VIA C7 ULV 1.2GHz CPU and to have 30GB HDD storage, 512MB of RAM, DVI, USB ports, card reader and Wi-Fi connectivity support.

Its built-in webcam is said to be of 1.2MP and the operating system would be gOS, Linux distribution optimized for use with Google Apps sponsored by Everex.

Another information is about a developer version of the UMPC that would be released earlier than the CES 2008 presentation, a model that will come with a touch screen.

Everex Notebook with Zonbu OS

The new notebook announced by Zonbu is a model based on the Everex laptop but with the Zonbu operating system installed.
This means that it has a 15.4-inch display with a resolution of 1440×900 pixels, and a VIA C7-M processor at 1.5GHz, plus 512 MB memory.
The VIA Chrome9 HC is the integrated graphics card.

Its hard drive has a storage of 60GB and there is also a Combo optical drive.
The wireless connectivity is based on the 802.11b/g module, and the notebook has also an Ethernet LAN connection and 3 USB ports.

Zonbu notebook is an eco-friendly model that weights 5.3 pounds and its batteryâ€™s working time is of up to 2h30min.

With a $279 upfront and a $14.95 monthly subscription fee this model includes services such as 20 software applications, automatic data back-up, generous online storage, free and automatic software upgrades, file remote access and sharing, unlimited online tech support, and free hardware replacement in case of damage.

Everex unveiled the new StepNote NC1500 notebook PC that runs on the VIA C7-M processor, making it one of the most energy-efficient notebooks around. Expect 1.5GHz performance at just 12W peak power.

The Everex StepNote NC1500 comes with a 15.4″ widescreen display featuring DiamondBrite technology, and is pre-installed with Windows XP Home Edition, keeping costs low. Main memory is set at 512MB DDR2 SDRAM, while storage is taken care by the 60GB 4200-rpm PATA hard drive.
