Dell took into consideration its customers’ needs and redesigned its Vostro notebook line making the models lighter, thinner and with pre-installed data protection software.
The new redesigned laptops include Vostro 1310, Vostro 1510 and Vostro 1710 which are optimized for small businesses and are already available in several countries with others to follow up soon.

Dell Vostro 1310 is the smaller model with a display measuring just 13.3 inches in diagonal and equipped with fingerprint reader, Trusted Platform Module, cable lock slot, McAfee Total Protection for Small Business security software, and slot load optical drive.

The 15.4-inch Vostro 1510 has the same security features and is available at a price of $599, while the 13.3-inch Vostro 1310 costs $749.
In May, Dell will release also the 17-inch notebook model called Vostro 1710.

According to Dell, the next-generation laptop computers made by the company will support mobile broadband high-speed connectivity on multiple 3G network, feature enabled by Qualcomm for its customers via its GOBI technology.
US residents that like to travel accompanied by their laptops will have the chance to connect via Sprint’s EV-DO networks using European Vodafone’s HSDPA without the need for two different broadband cards, and this will be possible starting later this year when Dell will release portable computers with a single-card 3G network connectivity via GOBI.

GOBI technology from Qualcomm is software-configurable and allows users connect at high speeds on UMTS and CDMA networks with the possibility to switch between the two when needed.
Notebook models that will come with this solution are Latitude, Dell Precision and costumer laptops.

This is the public declaration of Greg Raleigh, vice president of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies:
"The Gobi solution enables enterprise users and consumers with the freedom of being untethered from Wi-Fi hotspots and connecting to the Internet using 'almost anywhere' cellular broadband connectivity. We are pleased that Dell will be leveraging the flexibility and efficiency Gobi provides to meet the growing needs of mobile data users."

Dell Inspiron 1526 was released earlier this year and now comes the Inspiron 1525 with the same screen diagonal of 15.4 inches and with high definition support via the HDMI port, at 720p resolution.

The first rugged laptop from Dell is Latitude XFR D630, destined for commercial customers and government, available in US at a price of $3,899, which includes high resistance in high temperature environments, moisture, and altitude, plus a special thermal management system capable of delivering great graphics performance.

It gives its users access to the Next Business Day On-Sire service for hardware components, and as key features we mention the integrated resistive touch technology, shock isolated mounting for HDD, LCD and electronics protection, dual locking butterfly mechanisms for easy access and a sealed keyboard against rain and dust particles.

The operating system can be wither Windows XP or Vista versions, while the Latitude XFR D630 sports a 14.1-inch DirectVue display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and 500 nit brightness, integrating up to 4GB DDR SDRAM shared memory with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 with 358MB memory.

It includes a thermally-enhanced ruggedized, shock mounted 1.8-inch 80GB hard drive, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, WLAN , Bluetooth, and several physical connectivity options such as docking connector and VGA.
