CTL is a laptop computer manufacturer headquartered in Portland, Oregon, having its Nexus brand known for the LCD and plasma television panels distributed to customer worldwide.
The company produces a wide range of laptops and released recently a new netbook model featuring convertible touch-sensitive display of 8.9 inches in diagonal, known as the 2go Convertible Classmate PC powered by the Intel Atom low-power consuming processor.

Previously we wrote about the Intel’s new Classmate PC mini notebook computer release and the enhancements brought to the Magellan Initiative in Portugal, and today we’ll take a closer look at the specifications published by the CTL Corporation.

According to CTL, the new convertible mini notebook computer is available in the United States at a price of $549 and is destined to the education sector. It features netbook functionality as well as tablet a PC mode, while sporting a water-resistant keyboard that prevents accidental spills to enter inside the system.

Other features of the 2go Convertible Classmate PC include a removable carrying handle for easy transport, rounded margins, and the Quick Launcher that gives users access to most used applications, a collaboration software and web communication via email, instant messaging and research.

The 2.8-lbs mini notebook computer is equipped with an accelerometer that supports display’s rotations and detects the tablet’s orientation, adjusting the view.
In addition, in the tablet PC mode users have the possibility to write or draw directly on the screen using the pen stylus, as well as perform other actions such as select, move, drag, resize, scroll, pan, copy and zoom.

Key elements of the world’s most affordable touchscreen PC include a shock-mounted hard drive of 60GB, wireless N for high-speed Internet connectivity and the 6-cell battery that provides up to 5 hours of continuous operation.

“While the 2go Convertible Classmate PC can function as a netbook-style laptop, its uniqueness is that it is a tablet device as well—it is one of the first netbooks with touch screen capability on the market, and we expect it will be very well received as a versatile and cost-effective learning device,” said Erik Stromquist, executive vice president of CTL Corporation.

Compared with Asus Eee PC, the http://www.2gopc.com 2go PC made by CTL is a better solution taking into account the fact that it sports a larger LCD display of 9 inches, has about 10 times more HDD storage of 40GB, and more memory of 1GB.

The price difference is not big as 2go cost ranges between $400 and $500 and the Eee PC is available at around $400, but CTL’s mini-computer has several pluses which would make it worth double though.

Eee PC is more appreciated by women while 2go is optimized for students needs.
It features a light and resistant form factor, runs on Windows XP or Linux operating system, has a full keyboard, built-in web camera, and Wi-Fi connectivity, weighting under 3 lbs.



CTL is a computer manufacturer that owns the Nexus television brand and supplies to different large corporate brands such as Intel.
2go PC is powered by the Intel Celeron M CPU technology and the Intel 915GMS chipset, integrating two speakers, two USB ports, LAN ports, a 4-cel Li-Ion battery for up to 4 hours of use, and a memory card reader.
It is housed in a sturdy plastic case and has the base design of the second generation classmate PC powered by Intel.
