ASUS has released the R2E UMPC in Europe at a price of €1250, choosing Italy as the first country to sell it.
While the ASUS R1E was built as a Tablet PC, the R2E model is an Ultra Mobile PC meant to offer the same advantages and technologies of an advanced notebook but the with the mobility and user-friendliness of the touch panel input.

Its WXGA LCD touchscreen measures only 7 inches with 800x480 pixels resolution, but it is equipped with high-end features like the 3.5G module and ASUS SunRead glare-proof panel for the best viewing in the sunny days.
Its built-in GPS system uses an antenna that is retracted into the UMPC when you are not using it as a travel guide.
With the Bluetooth+EDR support, the Wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g and the built-in webcam you have access to a high-speed connection and wireless video conferences.
At this model we encounter the same handwriting capability as at the R1E, which allows you to edit pictures or documents as on a piece of paper and easily erase the mistakes with the DigiPen stylus.

The R2E is powered by an Intel A110 processor and supports the HSDPA technology.
It has an 80GB HDD storage and 1GB of DDR2 RAM memory at 400MHz.
It comes with the most common security option for a portable PC, the RF Biometric Fingerprint Reader.
In Europe, the R2E UMPC is available at a price of around $1,600.

ASUS R1E is one of the latest Tablet PC models coming from the company and what made me write about it is its design.
As you can see in the picture the 13.3-inch display is 180-degrees convertible.

The business device features a built-in fingerprint reader allowing for the biometric identification, securing your data.
Besides this, the model has an Intel Active Management Technology for the best management and efficiency level, providing a defense system able to discover platform assets, heal systems remotely and protect them against attacks.
ASUS R1E is equipped with Turbo and NAND flash memory for the fastest system response and boot-up time, and a Security Protect Manager in charge with securing the system and improving the productivity.
The Trusted Platform Module built-in device holds the computer-generated keys for encryption.
The R1E has also handwriting support so you can edit photos and documents using the DigPen Stylus as on a piece of paper using colors and highlight tool, and correct what you wrote with the stylus’ eraser.
On the convertible LCD display you can watch vivid colors and sharpen images rendered by the Splendid Video intelligence Technology.
With the hot-swappable module bay using the applications becomes very flexible meaning that you can switch between the slot-loaded optical drive, HDD, or the battery pack to increase the battery power or more storage space.
All these functions are running based on the Intel Centrino Pro Mobile Technology for the best mobile performance, HD capabilities, and a raised battery life, and with the WLAN 802.11a/g/n connection and the Bluetooth+EDR you get instant access to the Internet and high transfer speeds between mobile devices.
The R1E Tablet includes 2GB RAM memory, 160GB HDD, the DVD Super Multi Double Layer optical driver, an 1000 MBit LAN, Express Card Slot, and an 8-in-1 Card Reader.

ASUS released another Eee PC I wrote about back in October, the 4G Surf, which is available now in the US at a price of just $350, through NewEgg.
With a display resolution of 800x480 pixels, the 7-inch 4G Surf runs on a medium processor, Intel Celeron M at 900MHz, and has the Intel 910GML chipset with the GMA 900 integrated graphics.
Its design is remarkable, 4G Surf being conceived to resist at shocks, built with a durable housing material.
It is a mini notebook weighting just 0.92kg that has 512MB of RAM, 4GB Solid State Disk, Ethernet LAN connection, 3 USB ports, VGA out, 802.11b/g wireless support and a media card reader.
The less good part, to say so, is that the 4G Surf has no webcam, and its 4 cell 4400mAh battery consumes in approximately 2.8 hours.
This small black notebook runs a Linux-based user interface and comes with a lot of free software.

Asia has the pleasure to be the first to get the latest Asus notebook model released.

F3Sc-T7250 is a multimedia notebook PC based on Santa Rosa, featuring maximum 4GB DDR2 667MHz memory and an Nvidia Geforce 8400M G video card with DirectX 10 support and its own 128MB of memory.
Asus F3Sc-T7250 has an expandable memory up to 384MB.
It has a 15.4-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1280x800 and comes with Asus proprietary Splendid Video Enhancing Technology.
This technology is brought by Asus’ graphic card to detect the activation and usage of video applications to automatically optimize the quality of the image resulting in the best visuals.
The Splendid technology uses an advanced algorithm called Area Pixel Processing through which it evaluates each pixel in every frame and adjusts them based on smaller regions, but without affecting the whole picture.
The effectiveness shows best in human skin tones, green stretches of grass and trees and blue sky and sea.

Why this name?
Because with the new notebook model it is Easy to learn, Easy to work and Easy to play.

Its unique intuitive design has two modes: Easy Mode and Full Desktop Mode, the first being dedicated to the beginner users, and the latter to the experienced ones.
Why “a new Mobile Internet Experience”?
Because the WLAN connectivity allows users to use the Internet dynamically, while they are on the go, so they could share pictures, connect with friends, or read their e-mails as they arrive.
Asus offers us the 7 inch Eee PC, an ultra light model, with extra large flash-based storage capacity, and a built-in webcam, all with wireless support, one of the more important features being its shock-proof advantage over traditional notebooks.

The Eee PC scale includes 4 models: Eee PC 8G, Eee PC 4G, Eee PC 4G Surf, and the Eee PC 2G Surf.
All are featuring an Intel processor and chipset, are Linux OS based, and support Windows XP, all supporting Ethernet and Hi-Def Audio technology, with built-in stereo speaker and microphones, and weighting 0.92Kg.
The differences are as follows:
The 8G comes with 1GB of DDR2, 8GB Solid-State Disk storage, camera, and has a 4-cell battery of 5200 mAh for 3.5 hours.
Both 4G and 4G Surf models come with 512 MB DD2, 4GB S.S.D. Storage, but only the 4G has camera.
The batteries are a 4-cell but the 4G has 5200mAh available for 3.5 hours, while the 4G Surf has 4400mAh for up to 2.8 hours.
2G Surf has only 256MB of DDR2, 2GB of S.S.D. Storage, no webcam, and a 4-cell battery of 4400mAh for up to 2.8 hours, like the 4G Surf model.
In the next weeks, the Eee PC will reach the stores in North America at prices ranging between $299 and $399.
Asus also plans to introduce the next-generation Eee PC in spring 2008, with the Intel Merom processors incorporated.
