Alienware Notebook Reviews

When you think of Alienware you think of desktop replacements, laptops, big strong gaming machines and not at all about notebooks. Well there are some Alienware notebooks and one of them is Alienware M11x. it delivers the same solid game performance, great ergonomic keyboard, high-end graphics. And because it is still a notebook the size is reduced and the screen is just 11.6” and what is more it does not have an optical drive. Although it is smaller, the price for this Alienware notebook starts at $799.

The Intel Core 2 Duo processor combined with the Nvidia graphics card work together to give you the best result in playing mainstream games. Even if the starting features are good, they are not great such as the big Alienware M15x, which really has what it takes to be a truly powerful gaming machine, but the price is also powerful. On our notebook, there are 4GB of DDR3 installed, a 500GB hard drive to give you enough room to store all your games and even make sure they work smoothly. It measures 11.3 inches x 9.2 inches and it weights 4.5 pounds without the AC adapter. To go on, the operating system installed is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Alienware M11x is still thick but ultraportable and the look can be considered cleaner than other Alienware laptops. It comes in silver and black color so the choice is yours and of course the black alien head logo on the black lid.

The system is well-constructed and it feels solid. When opening the Alienware notebook, the interior is black with a multicolor keyboard LED backlit. The screen has 11.6” and it is glossy with a native resolution of 1,366x768. When kept in rooms the color quality is great, but in bright light however it could turn out to be a bit blurry and fade. One thing we can’t argue about is audio, the incorporated 5.1 speakers deliver loud and crisp sounds. And if you really want truly gaming experience you can turn the volume up and feel how the room trembles. The keyboard is also improved, as it feels well-spaced and solid while typing and you can customize the logo lights on the keyboard in any color you like using the applications given.

The lack of the optical drive might bother some if they were considering using discs to install games, but the ability to use Steam, which is pre-installed on Alienware, or any downloadable games or software don’t require the use of discs. As for other connectivity possibilities, you have VGA-out, HDMI port, dual headphone jacks and one microphone jack, three USB ports, dual SD/Memory Stick card reader,, no expansion port, a mini-FireWire, Bluetooth, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.

Alienware M11x got a benchmark test at 69.5 frames per second while running Unreal Tournament at 1,366x768-pixel resolution. In other tests however, the game Batman: Arkham Asylum, run a bit choppy sometimes, but Just Cause2 for example opened landscapes very smooth and at high-details. The 6-cell battery will last for about three and a half hour and if you use the battery-saving mode and turn off the graphics you will be able to enjoy more. The warranty is for two years, with a four year upgrade available.\

Alienware Area-51 M9750 Black Gaming Laptop

Alienware Area-51 m9750 black is a gaming laptop, and we all know that most of Alienware laptops are designed for gaming purpose. This type of laptop has a great resolution, DVI and even surrounds sound outputs and what is more the twin SLI video offers 3D performance for this laptop. On the bad side is that it has no HDMI and for maximum performance the system requires Windows XP. The minimum price is ok, but once you start upgrading it, you’ll have a surprise.

The matte black design is simple and looks great wherever you put the laptop. The components are high-end, has a Blu-ray drive and the price rounds at $2000. Once you start configuration on the system you could end up at $4000, but it is totally worth it if you’re planning on replacing your desktop with this impressive high resolution just what hardcore gamers need. In what design is concerned, this Alienware Area-51 m9750 has the same typical touches as other Alienware laptops such as the glowing alien head, but the rest of the body is a bit chunky, so taking it around with you it’s not such a good idea (it weights 9.1 pounds). The screen has 17” wide and displays a 1902x1200 resolution, icons and text might look a bit tiny on the desktop, but once you start playing a game it will look superb. The processor is 2.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 and the total amount of memory installed 2GB DDR2 with two hard drives of 150GB.

The audio and video options are great just like all Alienware laptops; it has three plug surround sound audio connectors, an optical audio out and an optional Blu-ray drive, single-tuner TV, S-video inputs. The Alienware Area-51 m9750 black gaming laptop has dual GeForce Go 7950GTX cards, and the ATI Radeon x1900 makes a great difference when playing for example Quake 4. Unfortunately the battery life is short; lasting only one hour and 12 minutes, but with such a great display it is no wonder where all’s going. It has two speakers located on the front and just below the palm rest. And with the subwoofer integrated you’ll have the experience of a home-entertainment system. In what the heat and the noise is regarded you’ll be surprised at how cool things are maintained.

Below the LCD is the only place where you will sense a bit of a warmer temperature. But the sound is not that silent and you can’t expect at this high performance to have a silent monster. You can compare the sound it makes to a fast rush of air. The keyboard is full-size with separate number pad and it feels very solid constructed. It is also quiet and typing feels very comfortable. As for ports and connectivity it provides four USB ports, mini FireWire and a multiformat memory card reader. Networking is provided by modem, Fast Ethernet and wireless 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi.

The warranty is for one year on parts, but the telephone support is available 24/7. You can choose to extend the warranty up to three years for $300. Even if the original price is still high, it is worth it if you are looking on experiencing all intensive games.

Alienware Aurora M9700 1gb Memory

Alienware designs attractive systems by adding up the alien head and the glossy print you can tell from the start that they kind of are from another dimension
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
And what aurora m9700 is concerned all parts are upgradable and this is a very smart move as you get to pick what you want to have in your system in this way you also know on what you spend your money. You can focus on the parts you are most interested in and leave out the ones you think don’t matter.

It is great for gamers, for you out there who like to test the ultimate games or spend late night on your laptop. It is more of a desktop replacement meaning it has 13 lbs and it is a bit heavy to carry it around. As it weights so much it well-built and feels solid with more on the keyboard. You can associate this laptop to your car having the glossy paint and the power features. If you choose to open the bottom of the Alienware aurora m9700 you can see all the components and are easily to access in case you want to change a part or get an upgrade. You can choose the AMD Turion 64 Mobile ML40 2.2GHz 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache processor and you can run multiple applications without any problems. Because the touchpad is glossy it might be difficult to handle it, therefore getting a mouse would be an excellent choice especially if you use this laptop instead of your desktop. And what is more if you are planning to use it for games you will definitely need a mouse. The keyboard has full numeric pad, excellent handling and fast response, and there are of course the top buttons used for media playing. It has a great cooling system meaning all your laptop and the chassis underneath remain as cool as possible.

The screen’s resolution is 1920x1200 and delivers exceptional image quality when it is pointed away from the sunlight, as the high gloss could be difficult to spot in the sun. On the left side you can find two USB ports, FireWire port, 10/1000 Ethernet port, the additional 4-in-1 media card reader for your external gadgets. And on the right side you can spot the volume control, the headphone and microphone jack, the ports for the surround sound, optical port and another USB port. And the ports go all around the back too; you can find there a VGA port, S-video out, one USB port, 56k modem port and the coaxial port. Being such a powerful device for gaming use the battery won’t last long, it could last about one and a half hour that is why it is best to look somewhere else if you are interested in a portable system.

Having 1GB of RAM you should consider adding another GB of memory, but you will have to remove the 512MB as it has two of them. And there are only two DIMM slots. But the bottom line is that you can’t go wrong with the superb design, high-tech technology, and the display. On the other side there is the big price, the glossy touchpad a bit hard to handle, the short battery life and the single core processor.

Alienware Notebook Reviews

It is a well known fact that gaming laptops are 16 to 18 monster units which are not characterized by portability. This is why Alienware has decided to launch another revolutionary product in the shape of the first ever portable gaming laptop. This unit has an 11.6 inch diagonal and with 11.3 x 9.2 x 1.3 inches in dimensions and 5.3 pounds in weight (with the power adapter included) it certainly is the very first portable unit of its kind. When reading Alienware notebook reviews of this portable gaming laptop, you will discover that is also one of cheapest gaming units available on the market. In fact, all the Alienware notebook reviews that you are going to read about the m11x are going to reveal an amazing unit as we never expected to have an ultraportable with such powerful components as this one.

The starting price of this unit is as low as $799. Boy, I never thought I would see the day when you could buy an Alienware gaming laptop for this small amount of money. Anyway, the price of the unit reviewed was $1149 since you can customize your laptop model. This notebook is powered by a 1.3 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 ULV processor and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM. The graphics card which can be found on this notebook is the nVidia GeForce GT 335M which is swappable with the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD. The total storage capacity of the hard drive is 500 GB. The operating system that comes preinstalled on this unit is the 64 bit version of the Windows 7 Home Premium Operating system.

We were a bit skeptical regarding the 11.6 inch diagonal of this laptop… then we thought that is really is a revolutionary product and the size of the display didn’t matter that much to us in the end. The Alienware m11x offers a display with a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and a glossy coating which was applied to make the colors appear more vibrating and sharping, making the image look more beautiful and clear. Ports and connection have always been an important chapter as far as gaming laptops are concerned because with such a device you will be tempted to attach all sorts of peripherals: from external speakers, to a gaming keyboard and mouse and so forth.

The unit of this laptop comes with 3 USB ports, one SD memory card reader, a mini FireWire port, an Ethernet port, a VGA out, a HDMI port, a Display port and the regular headphones out and microphone in jacks. Even if this ultra portable gaming laptop does not come with any expansion port or optical drive, the selection of ports and connections is still more than we expected from a 11.6 inch unit. With the video playback test that drains the battery, the Alienware M11X managed to stay on for 3 hours and 25 minutes which is a whole lot better than what you normally get from other gaming laptops.

Small Gaming Laptop

If you are looking to buy a small gaming laptop, the best choice is the Alienware M11x. This is the newest gaming laptop made by Alienware which comes with a 11.6 inch display.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
The starting price of this laptop is $800 and the price of the unit configured in this review is $850. This unit is based on a 1.3 GHz Intel SU4100 processor or you can go for a 1.3 GHz Intel SU7300 processor. The total amount of RAM is 4 GB of DDR3. The hard drive can store up to 160 GB of files and applications. The graphics card is a nVidia GeFoce GT 335M with 1 GB of GDDR3 RAM and you can switch it with the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD. The dimensions of this unit are 11.25 x 9.19 x 1.29 inches and the total weight is 4.4 lbs. The unit comes with the preinstalled 64 bit version of the Windows 7 Home Premium.

The 11.6 inch display comes with a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The levels of brightness and contrast are average, with nothing to spectacular to speak about. The horizontal viewing angles are good and the only thing that people could complain about with this display is the matte option which is the only one available. Come to think of it, what are the real advantages when you own a glossy display? There is always the problem with reflections when you use the laptop under powerful light. The keyboard is probably the best one you have ever seen on an 11 inch notebook. The key spacing is very good and the support frame of the keyboard is very solid. Even if you apply really hard pressure, there is a good chance that the Alienware M11x will never flex. When you want to benefit from the ultraportable capabilities of this laptop, you have to keep in mind that even if the touchpad is great and it offers great precision and good response times, nothing can compare to an external mouse when it comes to gaming.

Selection of ports and connections on a 11.6 inch gaming laptop can be confusing as we generally expect to get a poor variety from a small ultraportable and expect to get a good selection of ports on a gaming laptop. The unit hosts 3 USB ports, one FireWire port, an Ethernet port, one VGA out, a HDMI port, a Display Port, a 3-in-1 media card slot and the regular headphones out and microphone in jacks. As for the battery performance, this small gaming laptop gives you the option to switch between the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator and the nVidia GeForce GT 335M and is you go with the first choice, set to display brightness to 70%, surf the internet via the wireless connection and set the Windows power management profile to “balanced mode”, you can get about 7 hours of battery life from this small gaming laptop. Quite an amazing performance, if we consider the fact that we are dealing with a gaming laptop.
