Acer Aspire 5112WLMi is not a notebook that will withstand a lot of abuse or rough handling as it is made from plastic and not magnesium-alloy or carbon fiber. The best place for this laptop to be used is on a desk or table top with little-to no road trips.
The silver lid does not look very scratch resistant, so a sleeve for protection should be used when carrying it around. However, the screen protection is good -- no ripples occur when applying pressure from the back of the lid. The hinges are strong, but the plastic latches are questionable. They have a sturdy enough feel that you know they won't break anytime soon, the hope is that they won't break after warranty expires.
The palm rests are a bit weak, they flex when applying focused pressure at a point, the same is true for the area above keyboard where media keys are located. Also, there are a little bit of squeaking and creaks you'll hear from the notebook when lifting and the carrying notebook around.

Acer's TravelMate series of business-orientated laptops sports a buttoned-down design and normally comes in suitably muted colours. With the ultraportable TravelMate 3020 series, though, the company has let its hair down a little and come up with a striking white system.
This Core Duo-based laptop (we reviewed the 1.66GHz TM 3022WTMi model) is a good performer and has a neat built-in digital camera. However, we'd prefer an integrated optical drive (even at the expense of a little extra weight).
Based on other Intel Core Duo systems that we've tested, we expected very good performance from the 1.66GHz T2300-based Acer 3022WTMi with 1GB of RAM. Although the 3022WTMi seemed very responsive in general use, we were unable to quantify this impression using our normal MobileMark 2002 benchmark, as this refused to complete on our test system in the time available. Acer claims 5.5 hours of life from the 3-cell and 6-cell batteries, but again we were unable to test this using MobileMark 2002.
Overall, Acer's TravelMate 3022WTMi is small, light and highly portable. Its wide-screen format, built-in camera and (optional) Bluetooth VoIP phone should all appeal to business users -- especially those who use the Internet for voice calls and video-conferencing. The new white livery is smart, although some business travellers may wish to carry a less eye-catching laptop, lest it catch the wrong sort of eye.

Acer has partnered with Ferrari to bring you the sleek F5000 notebook. It offers an AMD Turion X2 TL-60 (2.0-GHz) CPU, 2GB of DDR2-667 RAM, a 160GB SATA hard drive, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics, slot-loading DVD Super-Multi drive, HDMI port, and a 15.4-inch 1680 x 1050 display. Here’s the verdict:
"The Acer Ferrari F5000 is an impressive machine, but there’s that little matter of cost." At around £1,699 ($3,244) this laptop’s anything but cheap. If you are, or you want a laptop that makes you feel like you have something rather exclusive, the Acer Ferrari F5000 is worth taking out for a spin. It’s very expensive, but you get a lot of laptop for your money.
