Acer released its new Gemstone blue design created by Gianfranco Lanci, with the launching of two notebook models that introduce unusual display dimensions: the 18.4-inch Acer Aspire 8920 and 16-inch Aspire 6920.

Same as the Aspire 8920, the 6920 features high definition support, Blu-Ray Disc drives, the CineDash touch-sensitive interface with navigation menus, volume adjustment and media control, and Dolby Home Theater technology with CineSurround, Tuba CineBass booster, and True5.1 output.

Aspire 6920 is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and integrates the Intel PM965 Express Chipset, HDMI port with HDCP, wireless connectivity based on the Acer SignalUp with InviLink Nplify wireless technologies, showing a 16:9 display with Full HD CineCrystal LCD panel with 1920x1080 resolution or a HD CineCrystal LCD screen at 1366x768 pixel resolution, and 8 ms response time.

The graphic enhancements are taken care by the NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS vide card with 1280 MB of TurboCache, supporting NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology, Shader Model 4.0 and Microsoft DirectX 10.
It features a storage capacity of up to 320GB, the DVD super multi double layer optical drive option in case you don’t choose the Bly-ray, TV tuner, and a 6-in-1 card reader.

The operating system pre-installed is Windows Vista.

<-120x240 Vertical Banner - left->Acer released two new notebook series from its new Aspire Gemstone blue design line unveiled yesterday in New York, and one of these impressive models is Aspire 8920G featuring High Definition.

The notebook has a 18.4-inch CineCrystal wide LCD display with 1920x1080 pixel resolution and 8 ms response time, Dolby Home Theater sound technology with CineSurround, Tuba CineBass booster exceeding 10 Watts, True 5.1 output, integrating six speakers, and is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the mobile Intel PM965 Express Chipset, and features wireless module based on the Acer SignalUp with InviLink Nplify technologies.

For graphics enhancements the user have two video card options: either an NVIDIA GeForce 9650M GS with 1280 MB of TurboCache and 512 MB of dedicated GDDR3 VRAM, or the NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS with TurboCache and its own 512 MB GDDR2 memory.
These graphic cards come with the NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology, Shader Model 4.0 and Microsoft DirectX 10.

Using only one cable, the Aspire 8920G delivers great sound and image quality, thanks to the HDMI connector with HDCP support, and the Wide Color Gamut Plus technology which reaches 100% more color intensity than the most of the notebooks existent on the market today.

It is equipped with up to 640GB HDD storage, Blu-Ray or DVD super multi double layer optical srive, a 6-in-1 card reader, TV tuner, optional VoIP Bluetooth phone which combined with the built-in Acer CrystalEye camera allows the user to make video conferences in real-time, and the operating system installed is Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows Vista Home Premium.

<-234x60 Half Banner - left->Acer made a public surprise yesterday at IAC Building in New York, by unveiling a new laptop design concept presented by Gianfranco Lanci, president of Acer Inc. and senior executives from Acer.
Using the same Gemstone design which characterizes the Acer notebooks since May 2007 when it was created, the company modified it a little to become the new Aspire Gemstone blue design for the unique HD notebook PC concept defined by the following key elements: light, blue and color.

The new 18.4-inch Acer Aspire 8920 and 16-inch Aspire 6920 feature Blu-Ray Disc drives, full high definition LCDs and 16:9 native resolution.

Acer chose blue to inspire a natural calming effect via the universal color, and enhanced this design with Holographic 3D cover consisting of starlit backlight shine below the logo for extra elegance, the Acer CineDash touch-sensitive interface with navigation menus, volume adjustment and media control, the DiamondBlack eKey to add a plus to the image of a precious stone, and the NeoWeave palm rest for ergonomics.

Extra new elements include the Dolby Home Theater technology with CineSurround, Tuba CineBass booster, and True5.1 output, while the Enlightener media flow traces a path between the power button and the digital sound coming from the Tuba bass.

In Japan, Acer Taiwan will release a new notebook, the Aspire 5920G-932G25 with the already Acer classic black Gemstone design.

It is a 15.4-inch notebook based on Intel Penryn technology being powered by the Intel Core 2 Duo T9500 processor at 2.5GHz speeds.
The internal memory is of 2GB RAM while there is a 250GB data storage capacity.

It shows a display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and integrates a 1.3MP camera for chat over the Internet.

For connectivity it brings Bluetooth support, version 2.0 with EDR, and all these will be available starting March, at a price of $1,650 but only in Japan.

Acer Aspire 5315 is a new laptop with the Gemstome design featuring 1GB DDR II memory at 533MHz, 120GB HDD storage and a DVD+/_RW Super Multi Double Layer optical drive.
It is powered by an Intel Celeron-M 530 with a speed of 1.73GHz and by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, integrating it in the low-cost laptops category with medium performance.

Its display is a 15.4-inch Widescreen TFT with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution while the operating system installed is Windows Vista Home Premium.
It supports wireless connectivity via the 802.11b/g module and supports Fast Ethernet and high-speed USB connections.

Unlike the previous model described Acer Aspire 5315 has a built-in camera and no Firewire or Card Reader. Also it doesn’t come with Bluetooth support.
The laptop weights 2.8Kg and its battery lasts for up to 2 hours in working time. It is available at a price of $697.
