Asus N70 Notebook Reviews
Posted by: LaptopsArena in Asus
We have chosen a particular model, the Asus n70SV-TY046C which has a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 processor, 4 GB of RAM, an amazing nVidia GeForce 130M GT graphics card that has 1 GB of dedicated memory and 2 hard drives that each have 250 GB of disk space. This is all wrapped up in a 17.3 inch desktop replacement which is bound to be a very good choice for most people out there looking for a solid notebook that can really replace a regular PC.

The design is the first thing that a person lays their eyes on when looking for a notebook. Since the first impression is the one that counts the most, Asus knew that a notebook that people like should be durable and good looking. Now, in our opinion, the glossy lid could have been switched with a matte one but I guess it's a matter of taste. I think it's annoying to see fingerprints on your notebook all the time and having to wipe it frequently. Not to mention that any tiny layer of dust becomes immediately visible. Another thing we didn't like about this notebook is that it looks really boring. It's entirely black and I think it could have used a touch of silver to make it look a bit more attractive. Other than that, things are ok. The hinges at the bottom of the display really keep the screen in place and the notebook is durable overall. The keyboard is pleasant to use, both quiet and very responsive; it makes typing seem very natural. Note that you also have the numerical pad available on this laptop which is something pretty common with 17 inch notebooks. The finger will slide smoothly on the touchpad.

Power is something which this notebook is definitely not lacking. Due to its components, it can replace a good desktop PC anytime with its 500 GB of free disk space and the 4 GB of RAM. You will have no trouble in running multiple applications and the system will run very smoothly. You can play some really cool games because the nVidia graphics card on this notebook is one of the best and you should be able to run games like Far Cry 2 with medium settings. Left4Dead can be played at maximum settings and resolution. The 1.3 mega pixel webcam seems to work fine and it can work even better if you use a video chat program that has special features which can help you get the best out of your webcam. Skype is such a program that transmits real time video images and they are very clear so you can enjoy chatting with your friends. You have 4 USB ports, an Ethernet port, a VGA and a HDMI output plus Bluetooth support. It weighs around 4 kilos which is double the weight of the usual 15.4 inch notebook. This is definitely not a unit you can put in your backpack and carry it around. To get the best out of this notebook, we recommend you install either Windows Vista or Windows 7 s they can recognize your entire RAM. You will have no trouble with the wireless card and you get a good signal even if there is a considerable distance between you and the wireless router. If you have a house with several levels, you can get good signal wherever you are in the house and even in the yard.

If we continue our Asus n70 notebook reviews, we should definitely mention about the n70SV-X1 which is an amazing notebook. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 with 2.66 GHz, it has 4 GB of RAM, 640 GB of HDD and the nVidia GeForce GT 130M graphics card. We have read some user reviews on this model and except for some minor flaws, the notebook runs very good. People have complained about the poor quality of the webcam. The speakers also seem to be quite weak as one user said he could barely hear the gun shots when watching an action movie on the notebook. People were very happy with the 8-cell battery and some said they were glad to receive a free bag and mouse when they purchased the system. Games seem to be no problem for this power horse either. This is a great desktop replacement and all user reviews agree with us on this one. The size of the display is very pleasing and they say that every piece of hardware is top quality. Of course, the system comes with a lot of preinstalled software that most users didn't need so you'll have to spend some and do a disk cleanup yourself most likely.

Users claim this notebook is very fast but you can't play any game at high settings and you will have to settle with medium ones. All the people that bought this laptop would recommend it to other even if they came across some tiny problems. The good thing is that when you purchase this laptop, if you go online (on the Asus webpage) and register your product there, you get a one year warranty for damages (like spill, drop or fire) in addition to the two years that you already get for purchasing the machine. Hurry, you have to register in maximum 60 days after you bought the notebook. Another thing people really appreciated is the Blue-ray drive that allows to watch some very high-quality videos. Overall, the guys at Asus have some really good notebooks out there on the market but which are really hidden in the shadows of other major brands like Dell or HP. My opinion, advertise some more. Marketing always seems to be a good investment.
