5 tips for buying a laptop

Laptop Choosing the right laptop these days is very difficult.

There are thousands of laptop models from the famous and less well known manufacturers.

That's why I decided to share with you 5 thoughts/tips that will help you choose the right laptop for all your specific needs.

Tip #1 Size and weight

The size and the weight are very important; it depends what for do you want to buy it for, for traveling, for your car, office, or simply home.

There are four categories of laptops sorted by weight: ultraportables (less than 2kg), thin-and-lights (2 to 4kg), mainstream models (3 to 5kg), and desktop replacements (more than 5kg).

Tip #2 Speed

Laptops are usually 20-30% slower that desktops with the same features. And is not only about the processor, even if it's the fastest on the market. You have to be very careful when you choose the motherboard, hard drives, and the video system.

But the most important is the memory. Cheapest laptops comes with 128 MB of RAM, not enough for running applications efficiently.I think 512MB of RAM is the right choice but the more memory you have ,the better for your laptop.

So when it comes to RAM, go with the most expensive you can afford

Tip #3 Baterry life

Lithium ion batteries (sometimes abbreviated Li-Ion), a type of rechargeable battery, are the best because they're lighter and a slow loss of charge when not in use.

Typical batteries have a mAh rating between 2,000mAh and 6,000mAh; higher is better. Cells are the actual compartments where power is produced and can range from four to 12; the more the better.

Tip #4 Mouse

All laptops come with a built-in touch pad which is an alternative to the mouse. But for some of us, this touch pad is uncomfortable. So it's better to test the touch-pad before. Personally I can't work with this. If you don't like it either you can buy a mouse. All you have to do is test which one is the best.

Tip #5 Wireless

Integrated wireless networking (Wi-Fi) has become a necessity and almost all laptops come pre-wired for wireless Internet. Most laptops come with a choice of 802.11b/g or 802.11a/b/g and they're capable of data throughput of 11Mbps that's why I think 802.11b is a right choice for a normal use.

So, before buying the laptop that you want, take account of this tips and take your time.

Some good suggestions, thought I'd like to point out that with Vista, 1,024MB of memory is probably the norm. As for wireless, go with 802.11g or 802.11a, since 802.11b is slowly on its way out.
